Nails it. Keep being nice to him and he'll let you call him Klom. But seriously, he did write a good post. I agree with it.
Your in depth technique analysis is atrocious. So what if you're older than me. There are probably some old experienced pianists who aren't that great. Emmanuel August lost half of his fights. Does that mean he doesn't have boxing skills? No. What an amateurish example from a supposed expert who really uses boxing history to stroke his own ego in his bitter toxic bubble. None of the things you listed means he doesn't have boxing skills. It's a bunch of ramblings from a man unraveling because his novelty is slowly starting to wear thin.
Uuuhhh, and I dont know what Im looking at? LOL. Braddock's punching technique looks nothing like Golovkins first of all and second of all yes, those are arm punches. Very badly telegraphed arm punches at that. When you bring your arm all the way back and swing it in an arching motion all the way around with a twist, torque, or having any of your body behind it its a ****ing arm punch and thats what hes doing in those clips. Yes it is. If not then what is an arm punch genius? Some of these former posters seem to understand an arm puncher a bit better than you: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/can-someone-describe-to-me-what-an-arm-punch-is.152731/ No it doesnt land with force which is what Loughran is able to block it easily with a fully extended straight arm unsupported by the weight of his body. But I dont know what Im looking at...
Except that's not really how it went down. Braddock kept Louis at a distance by using his stiff jab and counter punches. You think Braddock was walking forward taking flush shots from Joe Louis for 7 rounds gritting his teeth? Because that's not what happens in that fight, and isn't remotely realistic. Joe Louis had a tentative approach, Braddock was no slouch.
Was Jim Braddock a drug addict? Augustus was. Augustus never got a title shot either. Why? Because ultimately he was inconsistent even when he was actually trying to win fights instead of selling them. Did Augustus have skills? Yeah. Was he a great fighter? No. Are his skills overrated absolutely. When one of your highest profile fights is a life and death loss to Mickey Ward of all people dont come here preaching to me about his skills as if hes a carbon copy of the Braddock mythos. Would you care to continue comparing apples and oranges? We can and I can continue to point out your misteps as Ive done here.
An arm punch is when your punch has no core momentum behind it. Core momentum meaning leverage from the legs, rotation from the hips, and the shoulder snap. Even if we do chalk it up to semantics, the actual punches he throws aren't bad. You are making them look bad by putting a reel together of all his missed punches. Do you, or do you not think I can make Andre Ward look worse than this using his last 4 fights?
Exactly. Baer looked absolutely horrible in that fight to the point of not trying. On the rare occasions he actually fought back he shut Braddock down. The fight is a joke. Horrible to watch for the lack of ability on display at the highest level of the sport and cavalier way the title is tossed away. And as you say Braddock still barely won.
Did Augustus live through the great depression? Braddock did. You can come up with any justification, but your example was bad. Augustus is highlight reel worthy.
How you ever chose to be in a field requiring critical thinking is beyond me. You're sad. I said you can't get by with just sheer grit. Not that it counts for nothing. Bozo alert.
Which is it? Look, you can believe they were these dynamite powerpunches all you want. Maybe if it was in color youd be able to see it better but those are arm punches. I dont give two **** what you do with Andre Ward. In fact that illustrates the point Ive been making all along that you find a narrative for yourself and then edit your videos accordingly whether they are accurate depictions or not. Ive simply done exactly what I said which was that it would be easier to find instances of Braddock looking inept than it would be to find footage of him looking "skilled" (which in itself is a relative term even applied to him). The bottom line being that Braddock did not consistently fight in a manner in which you depicted. Could he show some skill at times? Absolutely. Itd be absurd to suggest otherwise. But my point was that he had weak fundamentals and was a very talented guy either in terms of his ability or physicality beyond having a big heart and toughness (two things which IMO are nothing to sneeze at and for which Ive given him full credit). You are the one who continues to argue that he was really this SKILLED guy and comparatively he wasnt.
Im with you on Douglas and Johansson. Not so much Fury and I dont know really much about Honeyghan. Never really watched him or got into him. Hes literally a black hole in my knowledge of the sport. I like Leon but more because Ive met him and hes a funny guy. LOL.
You don't need to do all three for it not to be an arm punch. Get with the program. No, you just have negative and stupid interpretations of my intentions. Merely having the ability to show a fighters worst moments, versus showing their best, isn't relevant. What you end up showing is. Only some lost soul would compile a 10 minute reel of Ali missing punches, and call it an accurate interpretation. Not only is it inaccurate and dumb, but it's mean spirited and malicious. How terrible can someone be a producing content? Can one possibly produce worse junk? It's a disgrace. And crap like that has been normalized on this forum. Thankfully we're not all confined to this bubble.
So did every single person Braddock fought during that time. Braddock was the only person in the world who experienced the Great Depression? The vast majority of those guys had it ridiculously hard not just Braddock so why is he singled out like all of the guys he was fighting were living a life of wine and roses while he was toiling away on the docks? Just more of the mythologizing about the man.
Looking at the Baer footage, was that fight on the level? I mean just in those clips the amount of opportunities Baer has to explode that big right hand straight down the middle of Jim's non existent guard, arms low, chin in the air, and upright is ridiculous yet he doesn't pull the trigger.
