No fighter can be at his best at 35 and over. It's biologically impossible.

I keep seeing on this forum over and over how certain styles of fighters can be at their prime at advanced boxing ages. They say fighters who avoid punishment and fight in an older, more thoughtful and tactical boxer puncher style can maintain 100% effectiveness into the late 30's. Well yea it's true that some fighters due to ring wear and style age better than others.

But no fighter who has been consistently training for years can avoid decline after 35. Stamina, power, speed, quickness, agility, conditioning, reflexes, recovery, etc. It starts to decline. Obviously if you take a totally sedentary guy at 35 years old and have him train he can make improvements, but we're talking about world class athletes here who have been training.

There seems to be this misconception that because 35 means past prime that you're calling 35 an old man. That's not true. An in shape 35 year old in the street is a young man. But in the ring where every last bit of stamina and quickness matters 35 is an old man.

Let's look at some of the best "old" fighters. JMM, Froch, Calzaghe, Hopkins, etc. All these guys were better before they were 35 than after 35. Look at a guy like Marquez the guy was at his absolute best around the time of the 1st Manny Pacquiao fight. He was only 30 years old then. Not even close to 35.

You can't just decide to be different than every man who has walked the Earth before and defy biology. That's not how life goes.

Let's see how this thread goes because for some reason we have a lot of posters on here who don't believe in the over 35 decline.

of course. boxing is just a combination of many physical tasks that can be measured through other sports. how many sprinters, swimmers, footballers, etc... do you see being at their peak after 35?

Unless a boxer has sufficient experience and mental skills to compensate, the actual physical prime as a top athelete is actually at about 27-28.

At 30 it is possible for your experience and mental strength to make up for your slight physical decline since aged 27-28 but its not the case with every boxer out there.

Very few boxers are better at 30 plus than they are at 27-28 or younger

Why I chased some kid off my lawn just yesterday! I would have had him too, if only the battery on my mobility scooter hadn't failed. Whippersnappers mustn't come throw their weight about here.

You're lucky to have a battery, mine only goes as far as the length of cord.

Although, one time I hit a young gun with a can a peaches from 15 feet after he tried to eye ball me from the sidewalk while walking past.

Makes you think of guys like BHop and wonder how the hell could he do so well after 40, no doubt he wasn't prime comparatively but wow.

    Crafty old fighter he was.

Pac declined when JMM requested that the both enroll in a drug testing regiment. If anyone should seen as suspicious its Pac with his bag of excuses. Im glad that brutal KO is still hunting you Pac fanatics. The most disgusting and useless fanbase in all of boxing.
