Won the WBC title at LHW, lost to Dawson in a very good fight. Moved up to CW and became "the man" albeit very briefly Long time HW contender and at one point a top 10 fighter. The biggest accomplishment of his career is obviously the CW run, apart from that.. There's a good mix of good but not great wins scattered throughout his career. Is the CW run coupled with his consistency and success in 3 different weight divisions enough for him to make it? I think so.. But only just.
I would say yes. Champ at 2 weight classes and fought for the HW title. He has some pretty good wins over Cunningham, Chambers, Arreola, Bell, Briggs.
I had some Polish friends who were telling me that he was going to beat Klitschko, tried breaking the fight down for them but they just wouldn't listen lol.... The Polish love Adamek, and rightfully so as he was truly an awesome fighter. Agree completely on the move to HW being a mistake.. But with CW being even more underrated back and all of the money being at HW, it's hard to blame him for moving up.
No ****ing way, and I'm half Polish. He was a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but the HoF should be reserved ONLY for the cream of the crop, the abolute greatest ATGs. That said, given the ridiculously low standards of the Boxing Hall of Fame, he probably gets in.
It's a shame Adamek wasn't around at cruiser now, with all the talent that is currently at the weight. He'd of fit in very nicely.
I'm not having a dig and totally agree with what you just posted but there are a hell of a lot of fighters in the HOF that doesn't belong but imo anyway a Adamek is HOF worthy his resume is underrated imo.
Although he'd have a much stronger case if he just stayed at cruiser and added(or at least tried to add) the scalps of Huck, Wlodarczyk, Hernandez, Lebedev, I still say yes. His accomplishments have already been listed in this thread and Add to that several FOTY contenders and him having only Lost to 2 elite fighters when he was in or Close to his prime, I'd say yes.
A good fighter no doubt, but hasn't achieved anywhere near enough to be considered HOF for even a split second. To put it in context, Julian Jackson should be considered borderline yet not HOF (same with Jose Luis Castillo).
Yeah, I get it. And obviously, under standards that allow in guys like Gatti, Mancini, and McGuigan, Adamek qualifies. But that is not, imo, what an HoF should be - where any decent fighter who has a following gets in. Unfortunately, for economic reasons - getting fannies in the seats for their HoF weekend - this is regularly done, and will be again.
haha. Dawson schooled Adamek 11-1. He doesn't beat Ward nor does he enter into the hall of fame. He'd probably beat Superman.
No way would he beat Ward and I doubt he'd beat Kovalev or Stevenson. He was solid but far from great at 175.
