    I think Sanchez is slightly overrated due in part to his untimely death ,and Pedroza slightly underated ,probably because he was a dirty c*nt, 50/50 fight for me.

    Sanchez by decison.

    His workrate, poise, stamina and ring generalship matches that of Pedroza
    He has the better chin. Punching power is about even. Both wore down their foes.

    In '82, Pedroza struggled with Juan Laporte and Bernard Taylor
    At the same time, Sanchez stopped Azumah Nelson.
    In early '83, Pedroza struggled mightily with Rocky Lockridge.

    Sanchez is a clear cut above anybody Pedroza struggled with at 126 lbs.

    He would not be flustered by Pedroza's dirty tactics and would return in kind.
    It's a competitive matchup by Sanchez wins something like 10-5.

    Pedroza would try to bully Sanchez with his body punching and dirty tactic's.
    However Sanchez was a disciplined fighter and had amazing stamina and resilience.
    Sanchez on points.

    The old 80's boxing magazines....the ones you got in your mailbox or at the Newspaper / Book Store, bantered this fight about a lot. Surprisingly, Pedroza got more support than you would have thought today.....maybe 40% for Pedroza, and 60% for Sanchez.

    For what its worth, Juan LaPorte, who fought them both, said Chava was the best he'd faced.

    Pedroza took his title on the road Sanchez never did.He beat a green Nelson and had his problems with Pat Cowdell!

    Great re-call McVey^. Sanchez was Wide World of Sports telecasts...and Pedroza was over on CBS/NBC telecasts I think.

    Its a 50/50 fight for me and we the fans never saw it .Just as we never saw McGuigan v Nelson later.

    I like Sanchez narrowly. His stamina matches Pedroza and his workrate and accuracy is superb.

    When you add up all the intangibles, it is a draw. Personally, I think if Eusebio did a little more boxing, he probably could edge Salvador, but most likely, it would be somewhat of a slugfest. That would play more into Salvador's hands, but he wouldn't overwhelm Eusebio like he did other fighters. It would most likely be a split draw in an entertaining fight. Along with Pintor-Chandler, the one fight that should have happened that didn't.

    The trait that impressed me the most about Sanchez was his poise,he never appeared ruffled or hurried in what he did.
