Ultimately, if you have absolutely no punch in boxing, it is very difficult to get to the higher echelons of the sport because most great fighters have a good enough punch to keep people from trying to knock them out. Bernard Hopkins is a good example of this.

Mayweather too has enough to keep people off him, but in this case, McGregor has a longer reach and has shown to often optimize his reach in MMA to set up his strikes, but to ultimately set up his punches, and in particular that left hand.

Conner is going to use footwork and a high work rate, in combination with his reach to keep Mayweather non-stop on the defensive, and then occasionally slip a hard shot through which, if it lands and McGregor is as reputable of a puncher as he makes himself out to be, then he very well could hurt Mayweather.

This is the same style that Calzaghe used against Hopkins, but I think McGregor has better footwork than Calzaghe, but I also think Mayweather is better than Hopkins. Mayweather will land that right hand, but will it have the effect that he wants it to have or will there be such high work rate, that it will become too dangerous to let it fly with any serious intent?

That's what it's going to come down to because McGregor is going to look to counter Mayweather's counter. The thing is, Mayweather is going to be outweighed by 25 lbs on top of McGregor's punching power and precision.

Look, I might be totally wrong in my analysis, but the thing I saw during McGregor's training session were quite obviously much different than what other people saw, but don't worry, Floyd saw the same thing I did and he knows he is going to have to be prepared from more angles during this fight than perhaps any other of his previous fights.

I really hope Floyd has the ability to pull of a masterclass, but don't get it twisted, if he does, it will be against perhaps his most formidable opponent. I don't know if Floyd realized this before actually watching McGregor like I did or perhaps only recently discovered this about him, but we'll just see what happens.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but let's keep it real and admit that it's more than likely that McGregor handled Malinaggi. This guy is a master of timing. I don't think people are understanding this. Floyd is also a master of timing. You teach Floyd how to kick, Floyd will time kicks as well as he does punches. That is who Floyd is going up against, a master of timing.

Just keep that in mind before you dismiss this fight. This is a serious fight.

No One and I do mean NO ONE, should pay for the farce that is the PFV Mayweather vs McGregor. This farce is nothing but a P.T. Barnum "A sucker and his money are soon parted" circus sideshow event. It will make these two men well over $150 million combined. "A fool and his money are soon parted." That is an outrage and a bad direction for boxing to go. We real fans will be inundated with mismatches and WWF, style entertainment sport events. This is as bad as Mayweather vs The Big Show. I ask that no real boxing fan supports this farce.

Conor would save boxing in the states like he saved MMA.

But what will happen is Floyd will box conservatively once again, boring fans in an easy 12 round decision win to put the final nail in the US boxing coffin.

You don't have to like McGregor, but painting Floyd as the boxing flagbearer is ridiculous. Floyd has destroyed the image of boxing. The best thing that can happen for boxing is a McGregor win. He'll bring a huge fanbase to the sport, not to mention much needed excitement. And when Conor inevitably gets KO'd by a more offensive fighter than Floyd, some of them fans may hang around.

Well as a U.K. Fan I've enjoyed watching Floyd over the years in some of his fights but I can't disagree that the May/PAC thing was bloody awful and would you believe that Floyd could over shadow one of the best match ups in years in GGG v Canelo

I gotta tell you though, I think this kid can fight. When I first heard about it, I thought, Mayweather kills him. But look, there are certain things that just aren't taught. Like, timing, movement, it's really hard to understand even when to time your movements, but I seen McGregor do this.

I didn't see Maidana do that. Berto is not known to move that much. You see, what does an older guy not want to face? You don't want to face movement because you want to have an easy target available to you. McGregor is going to come forward, but at multiple angles. He won't present a stagnant target, but he's not going to throw every shot hard, so he can preserve energy.

If Mayweather can him him hard and destroy his body, he will win. If not, it could get very interesting. Like I said, let's just hope that they are both kept safe.

You're absolutely right Flatty! The long-time fans know a con-game when they see it. This "fight" has all the legitimacy of Muhammad Ali's match with that wrestler, Antonio Inoki.

And you are right, if successful, we'll see more of this crap. I really hope Mayweather just destroys this clown, rather than carrying him to create the impression of actual competition, which I fear he will.

Look at the video of Jeff Mayweather taking a look at that left hand. He is clearly shook. He did not expect that. I understand because I didn't expect it either. He admitted it in his statement when he said something along the lines of by McGregor releasing that footage, it exposes his capabilities.

You see, they saw a way where he would have hurt Floyd if Floyd was not cognizant. You now have to ask yourself, is that the only weapon he has or is there more? If there are more, then fight night could get very interesting.

Well just like Dana White said hat he'd learned never to write this guy off,I said the same after his rematch with Diaz and his last win.
Learly he has some power as he seems to drop folk for fun.
Floyd over the years though has shown he can take a punch,could be interesting but more likely a one sided Mayweather shut out.

The only thing that's gonna be "very interesting" about this fight is how long it takes Mayweather to leave McFraud out cold on the canvas.

My guess? It'll be late because Mayweather will carry him so you and others can offer some bogus post-fight hype about what a valiant effort this novice put up in lasting as long as he did. Those of us not snowed in by this con-game you're participating in - wittingly or unwittingly - will just laugh!

It's a joke fight, a joke that people are seeing this as remotely competitive and I hope we never see anything like this again.

Well I believe Floyd should make Conor look completely ridiculous and stop him, this should go no longer than 6 rounds (and I'm being very generous with 6) anything other than that and Mayweather should get nothing but abuse forever.
