McGregor is the reason the spotlight is back on boxing.. While before this farce was announced EVERYONE was pumped about GGG/Canelo. Go watch MMA if you think 1 man can ruin a sport that's been around forever.

I wish I knew the purse split on this fight. No way it should be 75-25 if thats what it is. I can't see why floyd made them sign a NDA if he is getting the bulk of the cash? This should be 60-40 all day.

There are maybe 3 fights right now floyd could sell 1.5-2.5 million PPVs and thats at only $69.99 and thats GGG, Canelo or a pac rematch had he not got robbed from the australians.

Conor is the only fight in the world that Floyd can fight and get 4-5+ million PPVs with. Conor brings every UFC buy to the equation. Conor brings the social media hype crowd that doesn't even normally buy fights unlike any other fighter could against may.

Maybe he is getting 60-40 but UFC is taking half his cash.

I just find it hard to believe since the negotiations went so fast and smooth the purse was agreed upon so easily....

People are getting way too worked up over this. What a bunch of drama queens. It's bad for boxing blah blah. Joke fight etc etc. Just take it for what it is a bit of an exhibition/experiment. Even if Floyd got beat boxing would carry on as normal it's just that people would have a bit more respect for MMA. People having been predicting the demise of boxing forever. Watch it with your mates have a few drinks sit back and enjoy the entertainment. It is entertainment and you have to pay for it just like everything else.

And if Mcgregor does pull it off I'll be asking why this guy hasn't been in boxing all along and who is he fighting next?

What numbers will GGG V Canelo do? It won't do nearly half of what Mayweather McGregor wil do. And besides, once again stateside boxing has let itself down by allowing the GGG Canelo fight to happen a little too late. GGG is clearly on the wane.

Who said boxing is dying? Boxing in the UK has never been more popular, it's absolutely thriving. But I did say boxing in the states is on it's hands and knees. Who disagrees? The PPV figures have been abysmal, they are the facts. McGregor beating Mayweather would be great for boxing, he'd come back for another couple of superfights, promoting the sport better than Maweather ever did and I bet he'd have the courtesy to have a good undercard on his fights because he's not as greedy as Mayweather. Nobody is as greedy as Mayweather. When Mayweather wins, he'll run for the hills with another undeserved 300 million payday after a boring decision win, and boxing will once again have to pick up the pieces.

By the way I'm no MMA fan. I watch bits and pieces of the sport, mostly just McGregor because he's an exciting fighter. I'm a boxing fan, a huge boxing fan and I love the sport. That's why I dislike Mayweather and refuse to allow him to be the flagbearer for boxing, he's done more damage to the sport than anything else. The sooner he's gone the better, if that's by brutal KO loss even better because it leaves the sport of boxing with some huge exciting fights for McGregor.

I disagree that Mayweather beating McGregor would be good for boxing. Mayweather is on the downside of his career. There isn't really anybody that he can fight.

If McGregor pulls off a victory, than it is likely that McGregor will continue to box, which will cause even more interest in boxing and more crossing over from each sport.

I disagree you need 20 years of experience or whatever to be good at boxing. Naturals don't need that much. Naturals that have been fighting, need even less, far, far, far less.

How many guys have 20 years of experience and still suck? People need to get that out of their head. You either have it or you don't. McGregor has enough fighting experience to anticipate angles of counter punches.

Let other MMA fighters come into boxing with the assumption that they can do as well as McGregor. Now, some might eventually be able to get to that level, but others will get annihilated. Either way, once spectators see what McGregor is capable of and how he utilized his vast skill set to be successful in boxing, more boxers will begin to learn other techniques. Boxing will become better because of this.

This all hinges on McGregor's ability to beat Mayweather. The Mayweather's were a little shook when they saw the Malinaggi video. Take a look at SRL, who of course isn't a Mayweather, but look at his reaction when that straight left landed. He was shocked.

I think everyone who wasn't paying attention previously was shocked. I knew Malinaggi was a liar and hater, so I figured after the first picture was released that he got his ass whupped. Sure enough, I saw more videos of McGregor working the bag and his footwork and I realize this wasn't a joke. He looks better than what you would expect from some elite boxers when he works out. People need to reconsider this fight if they think it's a joke.

This will be one of Mayweather's most difficult fights.

You hit the nail on the head with this statement. This is the key to the fight. Conor is obviously an exceptional talent and his athletic ability and natural instincts may work in his favor.

    Terrible post.

You do realize that McGregor is LEARNING TO BOX during his training camp, right?

Not only that, but he's gotta work on stamina to go 12 rounds, fight in a completely different environment, wear 6 ounces more padding, forget every single one of his MMA habits/moves outside of striking, learn ring positioning, etc. etc..

MM at 1.80 by TKO/KO/DISQ is ludicrous. Free money.

5.00 on CM to win by KO, for those unfamiliar with betting, means if you put $100 on CM to win by KO you will lose $100.

CM is a phenomenal athlete, no doubt (but then again so are most UFC fighters). But it takes a f*ckload more than that to step into the ring with one of the greatest of all time (irrespective of his popularity). All this talk of CM being a 'natural' is complete utter BS. Nature only gets you so far and as CM will find out, it's still a long way off. I actually read somehwere that people are buying into CM purely because he's Irish. WTAF?! What does that even mean?!

As of this point I'm still not sure if his open workout was a joke designed to mislead or if he genuinely believed he was 'strutting his stuff' and was impressing people with what he put on offer. I fear (for him) it might be the latter. Also, anyone that thinks MM has anything to worry about re CM's angles, power, athleticism et al is genuinely living in lala land. Same applies for those dismissing MM because of his age or brittle hands.

On a separate note, PM has done himself absolutely no favours by his responses to the CM camp vids. May be stating the obvious but he is either part of the build up (and being paid handsomely to do it) or is angling his own 'grudge' fight v CM once the dust settles from this one. Neither would surprise me given that PM, for all his success in the ring, didnt set the world alight in terms of the financials.
