To me, Baer is one of the best punchers in the history of the division.
And definitely one of the strongest punchers.

If he was wearing the sock 'em-bopper gloves of today, he'd be tossing SHWs all around the ring with his punches.

He was already doing that with those smaller gloves.

    Check your top 10 list.
How many on it are all time punchers known for great power?

"North by Northwest"? Milton Berle? I thought you were going to throw actress Eva Marie Saint into the fray.

I wonder if it was that first knockdown that damaged Carnera's ankle.

    Looks like it to me.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by "best" and "strongest" punchers?

He clearly hit very hard, especially for his size, but I'm sure that there have been plenty of heavyweights with comparable or superior one-punch power.

Foreman's technique is underrated. You can see him putting his legs and back into those punches

Admittedly, he was a better technician than Max Baer.

Shavers developed his freakish power from chopping wood , Louis to carrying
blocks of ice upstairs and Baer to lugging slabs of beef around his father
slaughterhouse and these 3 fighters have something in a common in that
they developed there strength and power from old fashioned hard repetitive
    work.
Baer hit plenty hard and with his natural size and strength with modern techniques
in diet and training he would truly be a frightening HW if fighting today.
