What if Carnera defended against Braddock?

Let's alter history slightly. Carnera has the belt, defends it twice as he did, then puts the title into cold storage for almost two years. With baer crying out for a shot Carnera s team decide to take on a so called easy touch before max, so they pick James J. A guy with plenty of defeats, it looks easy. So what happens?

Primo picks him apart with his mobility, poleaxe jab and 85" reach.

Hard time seeing Braddock spoil someone with that style.

    I would rate it a toss-up.

    How's that for wimping out.

Braddock might eat jabs all night, but I can see him out-thinking Carnera. Braddock was light but tall and rangy, so Carnera's height might not bother him as much as it did Loughran.

Pushed to the wall, I take Braddock.

The pole axe jab that Louis described as a , "push?"
Name one fighter that Carnera "busted up with his jab".

    Ignorance is bliss!

Jimmy was a tough old stick but it really took more power than Braddock had to knock out Carnera and I really can't see Jimmy outboxing a rather capable long range boxer of Primos championship form.

I think that Carnera would field that challenge.

While he was not as good as Baer, he was a lot more consistent, and even had better results vs common opponents.

Braddock probably doesn't have the power to dynamite down the mountain, so he gets out boxed, picked apart, and outpointed.

Well you could say that about most champions after Lennox Lewis.

    What does that make them?

Funny you say ignorance is bliss.

Were talking about 30's footage here.
Frankly this isn't your space, as evidenced by the fact that you thought the Braddock-Louis knockdown was a chest punch. Not because you saw it that way, but because you (wrongly) remembered it as a description from a book.

So perhaps you should sit this one out, and stick to topics where you can actually add value.

I think it's insane to put carnera in the same sentence as lewis and all the other great champions, average fighter but that's my opinion

Braddock doesn't have the boxing skills to exploit Carnera's many limitations and overcome the size gap. Carnera wide UD.
