Roy Jones opponents vs Chris Eubank`s?

You can't be serious, Nigel Benn would KO Roy Jones. Imagine someone with Benn's power and Roy's fragile jaw? A recipe for disaster.

If it was such an easy fight for Roy then why did he avoid him? (Like he avoided all punchers).

Jones wasn't all that, when punches came at him he turned his head in a panic, twisted his neck and even closed his eyes! Look at Chris Eubank by comparison, when punches came at him he remained totally poker-faced and slipped.

Griffin put a bit of a schooling on Roy if we're honest, and an ancient McCallum did good with him in spots (winning 4 rounds clearly). Harding also gave him a close match. Southpaws Del Valle, Tarver and an end-of-the-line Calzaghe gave him all sorts of problems. Imagine what Mike Nunn or Frankie Liles might've done with the guy, rather than your Bryant Brannons or Richard Fraziers. Imagine a '97 Hopkins (twice the fighter he was who took 4 rounds 4 years before) in with him.

He picked limited lads like Malinga and Thomas Tate over G-Man McClellan or Lamar Parks, both of which huge hitters with great talent and really good speed. Reggie Johnson back then was much sharper than when Jones finally engaged him.

Something to add here, Jones avoided punchers like the plague. He was Nigel Benn's mandatory at 168 for the WBC belt for over a year (Jones even held the WBC Inter) and gave up his shot to move back down to 160 to fight for a vacant belt lol, says it all really.

He also messed both Nunn and Liles around something awful. Liles and his team genuinely believed they had the beating of Jones (as they also did in the Ams).

 

Not according to his measured reach (like 70 for 6ft, Mayweather is 72 for instance), and he always got in close to land short rights. Strange.

 

Henry Wharton was always Benn's mandatory, not Jones.

 

Jones was Benn's mandatory at 168 in 1992/1993, Jones was also the WBC Continental Americans 168 champ at the time when Benn was the full WBC champ.

 

I remember Henry Wharton being his mandatory.

 

I remember Benn paying step-aside money to Wharton, he probably moved into the #1 spot when Jones decided not to fight Benn.
