Both guys can give a punch and take a punch, and there is no substantial reason to clearly favor one over the other in either regard.

What separates them in this fight is as follows:

    A. Baer is a slugger and Tua is a swarmer, which gives the stylistic advantage to Baer.

    B. Baer was much more willing to walk through heavy fire to get the job done.

    C. Baer was far more successful against world class opposition in the real world.

    Baer all the way.

    Deontay Wilder more than qualifies.

Another vote for Max. Going away. Another fight where Tua's lack of any footwork skills comes into play. He'll be plodding by the 4th round and Baer actually moves around pretty good.

I like Tua against the guys coming into him or the types with mediocre footwork themselves so the Tuaman can finally run them down in the 10th round.

Tua was easy to outbox at times. Baer isn't the type to do it, but it's possible he could be leading on the cards at the time of the inevitable stoppage, like a lot of Tua's opponents.

If he chooses to brawl with Tua then it's over before he even gets started.

Where are the bodies buried? I hope that's not a reference to Campbell and Schaff, because if it is in extremely bad taste, as well as being irrelevant to the discussion.

Shavers and Foreman never killed anyone and I'm sure you'd have no problems ranking them highly.

How many times has a swarmer been successful brawling with a slugger?

Interesting thing about Tua is that he never knocked out a fully fledged SHW specimen.
I believe his tallest KO opponent was 6'4.
Most of his KO's are over guys from 5'10 to 6'2.

Baer demolished Carnera, a 6'5 1/2, 260LB, 85" reach true SHW lineal heavyweight champion while outweighed by 55lb.

    Ibeabuchi for one.

The bottom line is that styles make fights.

Sluggers beat swarmers all being equal, and all is not equal.

All favors Baer before we even get into the stylistic argument.

Does anyone know more about the Savon-Tua amateur fight?

It's always felt weird to me that Tua got KO'd by a seemingly moderate punch compared to the shots he was taking in the pros.

I know that amateurs and pro fights are very different, but still. People seem to put a lot of stock in Joshua amateur KO loss, although he is a modern fighter so it may be more relevant to bring it up.

Tua loses a decision. Tua finally meats someone who could KO him, but Max takes the win on points.

Tua never met anyone who could KO him. Lennox couldn't so Slapsie Maxie sure as hell wouldn't come close.

Tua was 17 and thin as a rake fighting a grown man. That might have been why he was KOed.

I know it refers to Rosenbloom. Just as apt for Baer, I think.
