And I was responding to another post where I'd already mentioned his extension and weight transfer. No hidden meaning. You just need to read the string of posts preceding yours.
Huck is not a better puncher than Baer nor on the same level. I thought my comments communicating laughter made that clear.
Baer stopped bigger guys than Tua, who were ranked higher than the guys Tua beat, while weighing less than Tua. What more can I say like Hova.
What's a Huck? Another contender in an era of fighters who should never be called contender. Nothing special whose name will be lost in time ten years from now. Max Baer of course hit harder and over and above this he was worlds hwt champion and he is still being talked of 58 years after his death and nearly 85 years since he won the championship.
I wonder if Huck was a better puncher than Bill Hartwell. http://static.boxrec.com/6/67/Hartwell.Bill.jpg People don't realize the depth that existed in these eras. They think boxing was a ghost town, and that Baer was the only hard puncher they could find across the seven seas. He probably hit harder than Walter Cobb, I'll give him that.
It's difficult to even consider him one of the strongest punchers considering his lack of size compared to modern heavyweights.[/QUOTE] True, that's how you could never have Joe Louis up there.
Baer was a pretty mediocre puncher in terms of his ability to deliver his shots. It was his power that most people at the time rated him on. I see the same with Huck. Huge right hand, very limited ability to make that power count above a certain level. The difference is, there's a whole new division above Huck that wasn't there in Baer's time, so Huck understandably, if unfairly, gets overlooked.
I'm not familiar with Bill Hartwell. What were some of his standout fights? No, the division wasn't a ghost town, but then neither is today's. Even lesser tier fighters like Kalenga and Durodola are big, big punchers with more than enough power to put anyone away.
The CW division is absolutely stacked, and wonderfully entertaining to watch, especially if you're a fan of classic HW bouts. I know you're old school to the core, but seriously, don't be so closed minded and dismissive. It's not going to lessen your appreciation of historically renowned fighters to actually enjoy modern day ones as well.
