Are we restricted to fighters who are currently active? Also, colorful in what way? Personality or Style? If personality then I would say Packman, Broner, and Mayweather for present day fighters. Each in his own way of course. If past fighters can be included I would say Galento who called all his opponents, even Joe Louis himself, bums, who didn't bathe in order to use body odor as a weapon, and who disregarded fitness by gorging himself like a swine during training. Ali who had a knack for comparing opponents to rabbits = Floyd Patterson, bears = Sonny Liston, gorillas = Joe Frazier, mummies = Joe Louis and was a a gifted comedian. He also compared Wilt Chamberlain to a Billy goatee and Earnie Shavers to an acorn due to his bald head. All of this interspersed with Jokes and an occasional humorous poem made him colorful indeed. Emanuel Augustus for his clownish antics in the ring where he seemed to incorporate weird dance steps and bodily contortions into his style and his mocking glare and sarcastic smile after each round was over ad if to say: "Ï bet you never saw the likes of me before!"" Tyson with his incongruously high-pitched voice and colorful antics which included threatening to eat Lewis's children and Holyfield ear mastication and rabid chomping on Lewis's leg during a prefight scuffle that he initiated. This in conjunction with his non-pugilistic private life complications made him colorful indeed. Ricardo Mayorga for his Ring antics and interesting prefight braggadocios including calling Trinidad a clown, offering his face as a target to prove he could take a punch and occasionally vociferously daring an opponent to approach him as he stood waiting in a corner of the ring defiantly gesturing to his gonads with both gloves.
It is all boxers across time, for example one of my picks would be battling siki for walking his pet lion in the streets, firing a revolver in the air to prompt his Great Danes to do tricks and having two white wives even though he was black and at the time that was a serious issue with the white public
Mitch Blood Green, case closed! My favorite gem from him was when he said Mike Micelle Cycily Tyson then flexed his bicept
Came to post this. Will add Jorge Paez, who, I believe, trained as a circus clown and acrobat earlier in his life. Colorful trunks, robes and antics. Of course there's Mysterious Billy Smith, whom Doc Kearns said "was always doing something mysterious, like he would step on your foot and when you looked down he would bite your ear." DQ'd 13 times.
Stole my thunder with Paez. Tex was the funniest boxer ever, so many great quotes. Hamed has to be up there. Camacho. Paz. Three fighters I never liked.
Leon Spinks was living such a ridiculous lifestyle at one point that he somehow managed to get his false teeth stolen from him.
Camacho gained my respect. Mad speed and skills in his younger days and as he matured took on all the top guys pretty much. When it came time to catch a whupping, hung in and took it like a man. Was he ever knocked down?
Probably some toothless soul who needed them far more desperately for mastication purposes than he did. BTW How did the Spinks Dental Floss Company venture turn out for him?
