I can't see Loma beating a prime Whitaker, although I probably could see it a little more if Loma performs spectacularly against Rigo on a skills basis. EDIT: Also, Loma isn't prime at 135. His best weight is 126.
We're yet to see Lomachenko do anything of note at 135 so Pea as it stands. If he were to wipe out Linares and Garcia like they weren't up to much then we can start putting him in with the likes of Whittaker and actually having a debate.
I don't think that Chenko would be a pushover for Whitaker. It could turn out more likely to be a prolonged chess match with thrust and parry on both sides.
You don't consider his gaining the championship after just three professional fights and don't so against a skilled, strong, seemingly unbeatable fighter who had hyper velocity fists something of note? This content is protected
Sweet Pea was very versatile. Until recently, I saw Loma doing some bodywork, and tho he is a magnificent technician, haven't seen him how he reacts after being hurt and is he willing to go toe to toe when needed? Will he try to terrorize bigger fighters like giant slayers Duran and Whitaker did? Can he handle a tricky fighter like Salido now? Those and other questions, time will tell.
Anyone can disparage a fighter without providing reasons which make sense. If indeed you have reasons for considering Russel a pushover then you need to present them. Otherwise it remains just a biased unsubstantiated personal opinion. Gary Russell Jr. (born June 5, 1988) is an American professional boxer. He has held the WBC featherweight title since 2015, and as an amateur he won a bronze medal in the bantamweight division at the 2005 World Championships.[1] Russell was voted Prospect of the Year for 2011 by The Ring magazine,[2] Sports Illustrated,[3] and ESPN.[4] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Russell_Jr. This content is protected
With the blazing hand speed and the easy way that he outpointed all his opponents? Very easy to imagine. This guy is faster than Meldric Taylor.
I don't know what circles you frequent, but GRJ was heavily criticized for being a titlist with 25 fights who had yet to step up in competition. http://i.imgur.com/bJAyzX0.png His hand speed is a spectacle, as is Amir Khan's for instance, but it's preposterous to pretend GRJ was a monster. He wasn't. The Loma loss has made him better, imo, and he's taken on better competition since, but revising history to make a fighter look good is dumb. Loma doesn't need it.
