A fait accompli for Povetkin. The chasm in skill is so wide it's both breathtaking and invigorating.

Slow stiff robots in an era of slow stiff robots! No power, no chin, no Olympic pedigree, no height or reach! Certainly no Abe Simon, that's for sure!

To paraphrase Ron Stander's wife (before her husband fought Joe Frazier), it would be like entering a VW in the Indianapolis 500. Baer would be the VW in a race with Povetkin's Indy car.

    why?

stander was referring to difference in class of contender and undisputed champion, which is the direct opposite of what you are arguing for.

so you are destroying the very argument that you are trying to support.

Huck fought like a madman that night. Could Baer emulate that type of performance?

Bah, steroids are nothing to good old fashioned spit and vinegar! That's what makes real men!

So, back to the strategy of taking the modern fighter's worst performance as litmus test for his abilities against the old timer... OK, I've heard this song before.

Exactly. That was a once in a lifetime type performance by one of the best cruiserweights of recent years.

Baer could make things awkward for Povetkin in the early going but he's unlikely to achieve the same sorts of results over the course of the fight.
