Eubank had the experience to run when it was time to sign a contract to fight Golovkin..................experience kept him from getting knocked out!
Eubanks makes it sound as if Connors is going to get slaughtered and then tells us that Connors has a chance?
Eddie Hearn gave them a deadline to sign the contract. The Eubanks felt they deserved a bigger slice of the PPV pie. They had a meeting with Sky, didn't go well, they missed the "take it or leave it" deadline, and Kell Brook jumped in instead. The rest as they say is history. To be fair to the Eubanks, Billy Joe Saunders had a similar issue with money. He said he was only offered the same amount of money to fight GGG as he would get fighting any old bum. He felt, if you are fighting GGG you should be getting paid a lot more handsomely than you would any ordinary fighter, otherwise what is the point? A fair point I think. They're not in it for the good of their health.
So if you refuse money for far less than you feel is your worth and are given short term deadlines, you're a *****? That's one way to look at it I suppose.
well i believe your summary is factually accurate, but the context is important here: the negotiations had begun well before this and in fact there was (temporary) agreement on the material terms so the contract was drafted and given to both parties to sign. Eubank raised objections items he could have looked into and raised well before but apparently didn't. After that, Hearn said he wouldn't work with Eubank again
Thanks for the clarification. I found the fear as a motive for refusal rather strange since Eubanks Junior is a highly skilled fighter who would pose Golovkin with a real challenge.
