Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

How does that affect your enjoyment of every other fight and fighter you will experience in the future?

 

I like to see competition, a real fight, not a one-sided fight..................Void has the judges, referee, boxing commission and boxing experience. Conor has nothing, no training, nothing. Perhaps he can try to wrestle Void somewhat like Maidana, but Maidana was a boxer, a trained one at that, Conor is not a trained boxer, that's why nobody is giving him any chance of winning..............

Can you believe that the WBC has made a new belt for this fight? Called, "The Money Belt." Just what boxing needs is more belts.......................

 

I consider myself a fight fan...boxing & MMA. I've been soured by the corruption and politics of boxing and I've learned to appreciate MMA for it's consistently good matchmaking and consistent fairness.

Being a fan of both sports, I've NEVER seen boxing fans this insecure before. Conor is a great MMA fighter, and his striking is superb. He's an intelligent fighter who really study his opponents and dissect every detail. Behind the trash talking is a dedicated fighter who trains like hell for every fight.

I get it. Mayweather is an ATG. I've seen every one of his fights, been a boxing fan for 20 years and I can appreciate both fighters. This is Conor's first boxing match, but not his first fight. If Conor fights someone like Spence, he'd get wrecked, but his style is much more effective against defensive fighters. Conor puts on pressure and he enjoys being the aggressor. He can also counter-punch better than he's given credit for.

Mayweather is 40 years old, been out of the ring for 2 years and we don't know if he'll be the same fighter. McGregor is who he is, a rangy fighter in his prime with good striking ability. His trash taking has gotten in Mayweather's head. His left hand is a killer and he's got an awkward style. Everyone I know has Mayweather as the big favorite, as do I. But to hear fellow boxing fans say he doesn't even have a puncher's chance is just embarrassing. I feel like some of you guys are just a tiny bit nervous, so you over-compensate to make yourself feel better. Who knows what will happen to boxing and boxing fans if McGregor pulls the upset.

 

I watch MMA as well and also think that this fight is a joke.

If Floyd fought Conor under MMA rules the fight would still be rubbish.

 

It would be funny, if McGregor tries to pull some MMA move and he misses and gets of balance and Floyd knocks him out. That would be well embarrassing

Chance of FM doing anything in free fighting is definitely ludicrous to the extreme. The other way around, not so much.

Didn't Conor also say that after he wins he will create his own combat sport, the one where you can do both boxing stuff and MMA stuff. I think Conrad is on to something here!

 

Rocky Marciano's son Rocky Jnr doesn't think the Mayweather v McGregor fight should count on Mayweather's record because he calls it an exhibition.Therefore, should Mayweather win he thinks his Father's record of 49-0 should still stand.
If this is the case, how should we view Marciano's first pro fight?
Fighting for pay under the name of Rocky Mack and still an amateur he beat Lee Epperson ,then went back to the amateurs.
Not the same scenario but one that raises questions imo. If you are going to nit pick Mayweather's record Rocky's should be under the same scrutiny.imo

Archie Moore & Tony Galento have debuteeing wrestlers on their records.
Is this upcoming match any less credible?

BTW I dislike both Mayweather and this mouthy MMA guy McGregor and won't be paying for it.

Thank god this fight has some credibility now.

 

Rocky Marciano Jr. Should put on the gloves and fight Mayweather instead to stop him breaking his father's record.
