Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

Observed him doing that against other elite boxers. Not a novice .. I don't know what I'm doing in the ring MMA fighters. Floyd walked Canelo down why the hell wouldn't he walk Connor McGregor sorry a$$ down

 

You may have forgotten but Floyd 40+ years old now. I and most people would not expect him to fight in the pocket with younger and bigger fighter.

 

You are right! I just saw a televised interview where Mayweather describes Connors as a formidable opponent who has never been bested in an MMA contest in a standup fight part. In response the interviewer mentioned the Diaz Connors match where Connors was forced to the ground after being stunned by a punch. Without explaining why he had lied, Mayweather went on to praise Diaz as a great warrior and what happened to Connors as simply a bad night. Then he shifted to praising Diaz for being a formidable fighter in having done that to Connors.

Seems as if he will say anything and everything in order to get his hands on the money. Claimed that this time he will fight very aggressively instead of fighting as he usually does. That also might just be hype.

LOL the McMay thread is like a black hole vacuuming everything vaguely related into a singularity of crap. Sometimes good stuff gets vacuumed, but on the whole thank **** it's there because those 450 pages would have been exploded like diarrhea all over this site if not.

 

I know how old Mayweather is and I also know who he is fighting. People also said Mayweather would run from Alvarez. Actually, Mayweather probably is in less danger inside of MacGregor as there is less danger of MacGregor connecting with a "homerun" punch and he can rely on his inside boxing skills to take MacGregor apart. Yes, this is an older Mayweather but MacGregor is not in the same league as a boxer as Alvarez.

 

I don't disagree with your assessment at all. I think he can easily fight in the pocket with Mcgregor and easily win the fight. But he has been on that "safety first" tip for awhile now so i just don't see him doing it. He likes to come out of the fight looking like he is ready to go to the club.

 

Floyd will be giving Conor his biggest chance if he tries to stand and brawl. Mc has legit power and especially with a size advantage, Floyd will feel it if Conor lands. Not a very smart move.

That said, I'd still favour Floyd to win a shootout, but I'd push Conor's chances of winning as high as 30% if Floyd did decide to stand and trade. If PBF does his usual thing, Conor is up **** creek without a paddle.

 

Fighting MacGregor on the inside is not fighting in a brawl. If Mayweather controls the distance inside, MacGregor may headbutt him but there is less chance of Mayweather getting caught at the end of a homerun punch. I'm not going to pay to watch this sideshow fight but I bet that Mayweather fights in the pocket for most of the fight.

 

I don't think McGregor could hit Floyd with a homerun punch if he had steel filings in his glove and Floyd had a magnet shoved up his ass. Whereas up close he gets a chance to impose his size, strength and youth.

Not that I really care eiher way. Since I don't like Floyd I will LMAO if he loses, and since I've got friends that think Conor >>> Floyd I win money if Floyd wins. A sweet situation to be in.

 

I don't think MacGregor is used to boxing in close. In MMA, when the fighters are close to one another, typically a grappling match breaks out. I don't think his size, strength and youth will come into play that much in an inside boxing contest. I don't want Mayweather to lose to this clown but it wouldn't ruin my day if MacGregor won. I think you will make money off of this farce, I mean fight.

It's weird how all the boxing sites are taking such an aggressive approach to minimizing any discussion related to this fight.

You'd think they'd embrace it since it is so big.

This is a win/win for me. If Conor loses, I can't wait to hear what his delusional MMA fans will say, if Floyd loses (no chance), I would laugh so hard.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's fixed and Conor suffers an injury and loses but doesn't look bad because of it and they rematch.

 

i love my boxing but this IMO is a boxing match for joe public and should not be of much intrest to hardcore fans on esb

but i see by the page numbers this is not the case

mcgregor is a 5000-1 shot and will rely on mayweather getting injured for his 1 to be relevant IMO.

to use an anology as i see it /its like asking 2 great runners like usain bolt and mo farah to race over 10000m and some people thinking bolt has a chance
