Ive done unlicensed myself mate, hardly full of Sugar Ray Leonards. That's why I did it, to make a couple of pounds as I wasn't nearly good enough for the pro game.

People are **** scared of him round Slough which is a damn tough area so ill give him that but if he was/is that good in the ring its a bloody tragedy hes not ripping up the heavyweight division in the pros.

Notice the wording of the video, it's sparing and not sparring because James Stabler spared the other guy's life by going easy on him. Guy's a beast.

Reminds me of the hype round Gary Nelson the yardie boss who body guarded Mike Tyson when he was in the UK and apparently roughed up Tyson in a hotel room.

Give this a rest for ****s sake, Seen the pictures with Chisora?? Stablers all marked up and red whereas Derek doesn't have a mark on him. And AJ would tear him apart. Yeh he s a hardman on the street but a bit like the Lenny Mclean thing on another thread any journeyman batters him. Let him stick to debt collecting. Hes not in the same universe never mind league as AJ, Fury or Haye.

I overheard two blokes talking about him in a West London gym yesterday. One guy was well up his ****. Saying he could step in the ring with AJ today and KO him easily. Also an unbeatable monster on the street capable of taking on ten men. This bloke said name any hardman, be it someone like that Meng wrestler bloke or Fedor and he d pick James to destroy him on the street.

I've never seen this thread as I've never really posted/looked at much beyond classic boxing on here the 5 years ive been on here.

I can say this though I knew James Stabler from the gyms in and around London during the late 2000's and early 2000s the guy is actually a very polite respectful guy who doesn't act tough bully or behave in a yobbish way in any way whatsoever. The quiet type in fact The lad was working in fitness first in the late 2000s up to 2010 ffs. Trying to earn a honest living. The whole Burnham incident was pretty much his naiivity doing a favour for a friend and it turns out some hoodie kids gets in his way random and he takes care of business in the heat of the moment.

I can believe he is doing "security" but I can also believe from the fight videos he showed me on his phone way back when that he had terrific hand speed power and a killer instinct in the ring. A few have made this thread into a humourous one but don't slander the guy or his personality when you don't know him. Hes a pretty regular guy not a trouble maker quite the opposite

So do you know if he ever turned pro? I wasn't trying to make fun of him or anything, I just genuinely wondered what happened to him since he sort of had this mythical status on several message boards.

In this interconnected world somebody must know what he is doing, surely?

(Or is he a myth that doesn't really exist)

There was a lot of talk. TBH I mixed in that scene around the late 2000s until around 2012 after that I lost contact as I havnt stepped in a fight gym since than what with age, work and moving away from that part of west London and tbh was sick of some of the wanabees in and around that scene.

You have to look at it in the context of around that time these guys were appearing on cage rage on sky sports. You had another guy from the same gym Tony Giles a celebrity from the big fat gypsy weddings tv show, alex reid and Lee Murray was a famous name. So you had a lot of wanabees thinking they would be big too ruining the atmosphere.

Stabler reminded me a bit in terms of temprament/demeanour of another guy in that area ...called Jamie Hearn. Both tough natural fighters heavily involved in the West London MMA/boxing scenes. Hearn had a real hard man image, and again a pretty polite quiet sort of bloke in the gym. Stabler though was younger and more naturally gifted. In sparring he had that sort of Kovalev type brutality. Its interesting ill make a few enquiries for you on the weekend from a few mates from those days they will know what happened with him.
