Ortiz is grossly underrated around here and Witherspoon slightly overrated, but I'm going with the more skilled formerly-Cuban southpaw to win via his sharp counterpunching. I could also see him walking Witherspoon down and imposing his size on him.
By nationality, Ortiz is an American who trains and lives in Miami. Communist Cuba doesn't permit its fighters to participate in professional boxing. That's why its fighters are forced to defect and become citizens of non-communist countries if they want to compete in that way. Neither did the countries that were part of the Soviet Union permit it until just relatively recently after they gained their independence when the Soviet Union began to dissolve. BTW Under the Soviet System Triple G, Provovkin, Gallota and Sergei Kovalev would never had been permitted to compete for money abroad.
Good question. Here re some opponents he has beaten. This content is protected Vindondo had only one loss prior to losing to Ortiz and has a 75% knockout record. He also defeated Bryan Jennings whose only other loss had been to Wladimir Klitscho.
Go with Ortiz in this. Decision. I'd pretty much bet the ranch that this is exactly the type opponent Tim does not bother to train much for. We'd be seeing one of those B efforts from Tim against a guy if he bothered to get razor sharp for, he beats going away. But he wouldn't bother to get sharp like that against an opponent he would not have much respect for or have anything to fear. Like that old saying------A chameleon changes his colors alright, but he's still a lizard.
Unless Witherspoon is a classic forum poster, I assume he'd have plenty of respect or fear for an undefeated 6'4 counter-punching southpaw with knockout power and an accomplished amateur pedigree.
Will you take the charge in starting a thread on how McGegor bears a striking resemblance to Jim Corbett in a boxing match?
