Mayweather/McGregor Fight Discussion

The actual fight was pretty close to what I considered the most likely scenario, but I have to admit I thought it was not exactly unlikely that McGregor might catch Floyd early with a hard shot and end it. I never bought the idea that McGregor had no chance; he did, and frankly I think the inverse would be true if a top boxer trained for ~ a year and fought a top MMA fighter.

Nether is as helpless in the other's domain as people insist from their armchairs. There is simply zero evidence for this. The experiments have yet to be properly run. (No, the Toney-Coutre and Mercer-Silvia fights are nowhere near a sufficient sample size.)

 

I agree 100%, my point was only that it would be competitive, not that GGG would beat the top MMA fighters. He might but wouldn't be favourite.

 

Am I missing something?

 

I agree, imagine what a prime Larry Holmes could have done in MMA given his wrestling backround. He'd likely be champion if he could learn some sub defense.

 

When is the rematch in the octagon? Next May or September?


Both fighters exceeded expectations. Anyone who disagrees is a homer/troll. It was a good, competitive fight. The stoppage was a proper boxing stoppage, but I understand why Conor wanted to go out on his shield.

No complaints here. Boxing AND MMA fans should be happy. Floyd fans should be satisfied. McGregor fans should be proud.

To be honest this was a Mcgregor victory. The expectations was that he couldn't land one punch, not that he would outbox Floyd from the outside, counter punch Floyd when he came in with uppercuts, hurt Floyd with several body shots and have Floyd curl up in a ball and turn his back on Mcgregor several times until he got tired.

 

Loser? I expected an easy win for a professional vs a guy with no boxing experience.. this fight just goes to show how fake of fans most of y'all are. This sight is nothing but keyboard armchair fanatics, with no real love or understanding of boxing.

Connor did better than Manny Pacquio against Floyd, and didn't even have a boxing coach.

But Marciano didn't throw an uppercut like the YouTube trainer

 

McGregor isn't a boxer and Floyd is washed up. It basically went down how everyone said it was it was going to.

 

Pbf is 40 shot and coming off a 2 year lay off hater. With that said he stopped conor. Come again.
