Guy just destroyed the #1 poster boy for MMA. Conor was a dead man walking after the third round and should´ve been taken points away from repeating blows to the neck. Floyd essentially won every round after the third, maybe Conor stole a round, but he sure as hell was not gonna win a decision. He should be thankful for Floyd not being an old, rusty and not an offensive minded fighter. Canelo would have done him inside of 6.

MMA is in shitloads of trouble, Jon Jones is done. Rousey is destroyed and Conor just got destroyed by a 40 years old retired boxer.

People needs to stop hate on boxing, a lot of people did not expect Floyd to walk Conor down. The fight was pretty good and Floyd sure as hell did his part to make it so. This just showed how big of a gap there is between MMA and boxing.

Really? Am I suposed to give credit to floyd for koing a bum with 0 pro fights and the worst skills I've seen in a long time on tv? (just because I dont want to say "ever").

No, I'm a massive floyd fan, but he gets no credit for this circus. At least not from me. He got 300 million$, that's more than enough for this joke of a fight.

I read a very sharp comment about this fight, "it was like an adult playing football with a child, just leting him win a little bit so that he doesnt feel bad". It was exactly that. A joke.

    No credit. Period.

MMA fighters don't punch hard like professional boxers. There's no reason to believe they would. They have lots of tools, all-round fighting tools but professional boxers specialize in punching. It's a completely different sport and skill set.

I honestly can't believe that there are boxing fans on here having a go at Mayweather. He walked down the much bigger, younger guy and stopped him. This whole fight has been a joke from start to finish though, I'm glad it's over

MMA is the bargain basement amateur level of martial artists.

it's garbage, you only have to look at Conor's pathetic punching technique to realise what a farce it is. The same punching which has made him a two weight champion in a joke of a sport made for the trailer trash, the ignorant, former convicts and modern day thugs.

Call it a freak show or a fight, it attracted hundreds of millions worldwide, generated tons of money, had ppl. talk about boxing and turned many youngsters toward sweet science at least temporarily. Let's face it: MMA/UFC/whatever attracts the next generation of viewers far better than the conservative system of boxing run by old promoters and corrupt organizations, but this year is pretty damn positive.

In the end, it was both a freak show and a real fight. Boxing can be proud it's skill set cannot be learnt overnight and Floyd closed the show, and MMA guys must be happy Connor made them proud for a pretty respectable pro debut.

Some said it will hurt the sport, others said there is not such thing as bad publicity, it's done, so has boxing's stock changed for the better or the worse?

It's slightly improved but overall nothing has changed as this was a retired fighter coming back to fight a 0-0 mma guy.

I don't view boxing as i view the corporation UFC. Boxing will always go through the ebbs and flows but it's a legendary sport with tons of stories and history.

Boxing is still much bigger worldwide especially in the UK.

I think its funny these MMA fighters never take on boxers in there primes.
Mayweather was past his best when he beat Canelo.

I think that the one who is motivated by hatred is you. What else could explain your biased opinion except sheer unadulterated hatred?

    Examples?

You call losing the first half of fight and only being able to TKO someone a destruction? :risas3:

Points deducted? How about Floyd for using his elbows? Eh?

Giving Credit to Floyd for making the fight interesting but making as if Connors did NOTHING?

    BTW
There is a big gap between MMA and boxing. MMA involves the whole body and not just the arms and fists.

Supreme game plan by Floyd. Conor is a big man with lots of fighting, striking and boxing experience both within training and MMA, so the whole 'he was a novice' nonsense is just that, nonsense. Sure, he's not a boxer, but he knows how to fight, strike and box (to a degree). He did well and fair play to him for that, but Floyd knew exactly what he was doing.

Reasons I believe that mayweather carried McGregor for 6 rounds:
    1. Floyd never looked so calm in the ring. Ever. Not once in his career.
    2. Mayweather threw 6 punches in the first 2 rounds, if that's not giving away a round, I don't know what is
    3. McGregor's punches had nothing on them, Floyd could have walked up to him and thrown a haymaker whenever he wanted
    4. Floyd wasn't throwing punches with anything behind them until about round 7
5.Those right hands he was throwing near the end of the fight had no special setup. It was easier than hitting a punching bag for Mayweather.
    6. If McGregor looked ok the first half of the fight, people will believe MMA fighters can box, which may allow Mayweather to fight the next UFC hypejob (they have a shelf life of 2 years typically).

If you can't see that Mayweather could have ended this at anytime he wanted, you have no sense of boxing and shouldn't be posting here. Stop saying it was close. It was a ****ing farce. Both participated in one of the biggest shams of all time. It was a joke of a way for Mayweather to get to 50-0, but he still deserves recognition of being one of the best boxers of all time. But this fight was a JOKE. Glad I didn't buy it.

He outboxed floyd you can't just ignore that fact and hope it goes away. Yes I know it hurts boxing but you have to give credit where it's due.

McGregor was expecting to man handle and rough up Mayweather but he soon realized that Mayweather was actually the stronger man who had zero respect for his physical strength or supposed punching power. He was clearly shocked that a retired 40 year-old, who must have had at least 20lbs, was able to treat him with such disdain.

Boxers are vastly superior athletes to MMA fighters.
