When you have a reach disadvantage you have two options-stay out of range and do nothing and get outpointed at long rage or else close the distance to get in some shots and smother the opponent as Ray Leonard and Haggler did to Hearns. So there is nothing unusually brave about the range at which Mayweather chose to fight Connors. It was merely the practical choice.

 

Floyd is probably around 27th all time in terms of Greatness.
Floyd is probably Top 10 of all time in terms of ability.
Floyd is one of the most skilled fighters the sport has ever seen.

Not really excuses. Mayweather threw 6 shots in the first 2 rounds. You can't win rounds when you don't throw punches. That's just facts.

He gave him those rounds for free. McGregor was supposed to come in there and knock him out, according to him and all his fans. Mayweather gave him ample opportunity, but Conor failed. Fact.

I wish he didn't give Conor those rounds for free either, but he did, and Conor still couldn't win. Fact.

 

The fact that terms like 'reach advantage' is being brought up just proves my point. None of this should've even been a peripheral factor!

Floyd boxed 2 rounds the 9th and the 10th. The rest of the fight he was following connor in straight line just doing nothing. Had he wanted, he would have cut off the ring and destroy him in 3 rounds at most. He didnt want, maybe his 5 millions$ bet had something to do with it, maybe he wanted the show to last longer than 10 minutes. But the truth is that the fight was exactly as floyd wanted it to be.
