He didn't get screwed over at all. The first fight was close, and in the rematch he had nothing left to give. He was beaten both physically and mentally. His aura of invincibility has gone. His ego has taken a huge hit. Last year he was "The Krusher" and now he's considering retirement. He's mentally weak.
Some things here I may agree with and some not. How do you know he had nothing left? I felt Kovalev was ahead going into round 7. Yes Kovalev took a big shot in that round but hadnt gone down and was throwing back. Look at how hurt Gatti looked against Ward in their first fight but how he came back. Had that fight been stopped there, would you have said he had nothing left? This is once again your opinion and you are not a mind reader
earlier in the fight there was a time in round 4 where I thought Ward caught Kovalev with an elbow which I think looked intentional (not saying it was or wasnt) and I havent read or heard anyone mention anything about it. look between 14:24 and 14:32 below This content is protected
The only one that was low was the last one. The damage had already been done at that point. He was bent over with nothing come back. A disappointing stoppage, but don't try and kid yourself that there would have been a different outcome if that last blow had been an inch higher. He was exhausted and clearly looking for a way out.
I don't have to possess psychic powers. It's body language. He told us all that Andre hit like a girl, he over trained in the first fight, and Andre was going to be crushed in the rematch. What happened? He couldn't psyche Andre out. As Andre said: "They're trying to sell fear, but we're not buying it" Sergey was gassed in the rematch, and only the last shot was low. All of the others were legit shots. I've seen them numerous times, from different angles and in slow motion. If that last shot had been slightly higher, it still would have been stopped. He was slumped over, with nothing coming back, looking for a way out. He was beaten both physically and mentally. He just had nothing left to give. If you couldn't see that, then you didn't know what you were watching.
This content is protected If you go to 27:25 the punch looked low and to say Kovalev had nothing left seems an odd thing to say as it was Kovalev coming forward after that. 31:30 I though 2 looked low
It got established a long time back that you dont and that you are thought of as triple L for those opinions and comments Bending over from a low blow? And??? He got fouled. That is out of his control. Even you should be able to see that! Doesnt matter if he could or couldnt. He was outboxing Ward for long periods and I actually beg to differ because if Ward felt he could beat Kovalev fairly, dont you think he would have? Kovalev had Ward duck low, hit low and elbow. Could it not be that Ward was psyched out and had to foul for that reason? So Ward didnt want 3 American refs then? He was slumped from a low blow. Most men slump after a low blow. You are trying to sell one big punch as winning an entire fight and that doesnt wash with any real boxing fan
A nothing response, where you've ignored everything I've said. Sergey was looking for a way out. Watch the video I've just posted. He was looking to Weeks even when there was no doubt that the shots were legal, he kept turning his back, and he never protested the stoppage. Only the last shot was borderline low. Andre didn't foul him in order to win. His tank was empty. If you can't see that, then you're either biased or you can't appreciate what you're viewing. Look at his body language. Again, he was beaten both mentally and physically.
