Bowe at his best is a formidable opponent. But, Larry is too smart for Riddick. And, too tough to get knocked out by him. Larry by UD.
I think this is a dq fight all the way, given the personalities and competitive nature of each. Do you think for 1 second Holmes is just going to stand there while Bowe does his usual stuff--hit on the break. Tons of rabbit punches. Hit after the bell? Shove him away on the inside and then follow that up with a combo while the ref is trying to separate them? The other side of the coin is how long do you actually think Bowe stands around getting thumbed? He is going to retaliate. The question becomes how far does he go? Especially if they bother him the second they happen. And what happens around the 5th round after repeated thumbs, especially if Bowe gets cut around the eyes like so many of Larry's opponents did? Or swollen up? Think Bowe does nothing? I sure don't see either guy backing down 1 iota to what the other guy does & they are not the types to wait around waiting for the ref to do their job. Real real ugly fight. Just imagine the pre-fight---Bowe isn't sucker punching the guy like he did Donald, but he'll be doing something. How about before the fight & that big Bowe entourage in the ring? Think Larry ignores them? I sure do't.
Great points, larry would probably be too brave for his own good, if he starts brawling with bowe he could get ko'd
Holmes is naturally a tougher man. When it gets down to the good and the bad work, Holmes is going to call his bluff.
Larry had the skill set and physical attributes to outbox Bowe, and he would. Larry on points all the way, I cannot envision any scenario where Bowe wins this.
Bowe was one of those guys with A level natural talent and potential but often didnt show it because, other than Holyfield, he frequently showed up out of shape and against B or C level fighters. Larry was consistently A level and fought mostly everyone from his era. I dont see the man who won classic wars with technicians Witherspoon, Williams, and Norton and survived scary punchers like Shavers, Cooney, and Mercer losing to 1-hit wonder Bowe.
Yes, they all were. Bowe was a badass though with big power. Holmes was on a whole other level than Bowe though. Holmes would win this, maybe ko even. And maybe we would have seen Larry going after him in the parking lot like he did with Berbick! LOL
This would be a gruelling fight and extremely competitive. Bowe is better than anyone Larry ever beat and is better than the likes of Mike Weaver, Snipes, Witherspoon and co who Larry struggled with. He is also bigger than Holmes and extremely talented. There is no chance such a match is going to be a simple case of Holmes outboxing him. Larry traded punches in almost all his fights at various points and he would trade quite a bit in this one. Bowe's size and talent takes this down to the wire.
Holmes would get to work on out boxing Bowe and by the end of the fight Bowe would look like a different man. Bowe was just too easy to land on and Golota's jab gave Bowe no end of problems. Imagine Larry with a big target like that to work on. Bowe makes it to the end because he's tough but I can't see him winning this.
