Roy Jones vs Joe Louis & Sonny Liston at HW

So you dont think Roy could make tracks and evade Liston? At least for a little while?

The one and only reason I see Jones as competitive is because of his speed.

Yeah, you did. However, it's just not relevant to this thread. Ellis was neither in the class of Liston nor Louis, nor did he fight like either of them.

I can buy that. Especially when considering a well trained 1960 Liston. But Jones is the underdog certainly and could be brutally starched.

Or 1941 Louis. I would give Jones a good chance of upsetting 1964 Liston who only trained for a 4 rounder.

 

It's my way of illustrating that I don't think much of Jones as a heavyweight.

 

I think Jones would have done well in the era of cruiser sized heavies. He did show that it was not out of the question for a skilled old time heavy to beat a decent modern day heavy. At 193 pounds, Jones was the size of many of the pre 70s heavies.

 

I see Ellis taking him out with a quick right hand.

 

Nah, I doubt it. Louis is just as fast and can catch Jones. Jones wasn't untouchable.

 

RJJ's Dad said the same thing about Roy wanting to go "heavyweight".

You realize that Jones has to hit Louis too right? Louis' timing is better than Jones' and he has speed to match.
