Connor tried to fight like it was a UFC fight and blew himself out after 3 rounds. Floyd just sat there giving him a target to hit.. It wasn't like Connors punches were doing anything but I suspect the casuals were getting excited watching him throw leather without Floyd really fighting back... Really the failure was Connors team thinking they knew more about boxing then they did. They got made to look stupid watching their boy flopping around the ringt like David Price waiting to be taken out... I really believe Connors team actually though he was going to blast Floyd out of there in a couple of rounds and when Floyd didn't fight back they thought that there "strat" was working. Really if anything it show the brains trust in the UFC have totally under estimated how hard boxing is. Connor ended up looking stupid...
lol that doesn't happen today in mma, you have no clue what you're talking about...mma is a sanctioned sport just like boxing, that used to happen when mma was unsanctioned, same day competitions can only happened if a figher is medically cleared by the commision and thats never happened in modern ufc, they don't do tournaments.. and please quote where i said mma fighers cant get cte, please bud ill wait cause i never said that... i said boxers PREDOMINATELY (do you know what that means?) get cte over mma fighers. you brought up one guy whos been kod over 20 times and still sounds better than floyds dad or roger.. wand still has perfect speech, i can name hundreds of boxers with cte and you would struggle to find 5 mma fighters...facts kid. like i said no matter how hard you try, cte is more prominent in boxing, and so are deaths..those are facts act delusional but you cant dispute the facts. i imagine you are steaming right now, its glorious lol 20 years ago bud is that several years ago for you old man?, mma wasn't even sanctioned irrelevant
One is a real fight between 2 elite fighters the other was the biggest mismatch in boxing you will ever see.
you just personally attacked a sport that many people put a lifetime of work into? and you did so moronically, zero thought put into it, yea im sure a d1 wrestler wants to be a boxer.. how is there less risk in boxing? there's more deaths and risk for brain injury? and people who were in the Olympics for wrestling aren't going to try boxing when they just put a lifetime of work into a sport that doesn't even allow grappling, they would obviously prefer martial arts because they can use their experience in that said martial art, obviously they would need to learn boxing but that would be secondary to their marital art. your opinion is very egotistical and shows me you haven't even talked to enough people who are athletes to even understand my point, from your computer screen all you think is 'why doesn't every combat athlete just become a boxer more money hur dur' ridiculous logic why dont boxers just become nba players? more money right?
lol I seen it aswell they said about 3 mill watched illegal streams but that was a conservative number i heard everyone it on facebook and insta loooool but Floyd's children doe......
This is a boxing forum, not mma. If there's a boxing vs mma argument going on, you best expect that people will promote boxing. If that is offensive to you, you're in the wrong place. It's true a boxing fight is easier than a mma fight. I'd go a step further in that it takes a lot more guts to get into the mma cage too. Now, concerning wrestlers they are a bit of an outlier because they are not strikers and can't really crossover. So I'll rephrase my original statement to be that for professional strikers in combat sports, if they could box they would. I hope that is more satisfactory. Still personal I see. Well if you really want to know I was a fairly good athlete in my time. But in the water, not on land
It's just facts. There's no shame in admitting it. I know we boxing fans are trying to make excuses saying 'Floyd let him punch him' but that is just ridiculous. Have a look and watch the first few rounds again. Floyd was trying to land but kept missing again and again and Conor was getting in some good counters and getting that jab in. It's facts, Floyd looked washed up.
It may not happen today, though Dana White would love it if they could still do it and get away with it. Yet they had no choice but to repackage the UFC to make it seem credible to the masses and the only way they could do it is to have it sanctioned and mimic the way boxing is sold. You said mma guys never forget about their families. I proved there are mma guys who suffer memory loss and there undoubtedly many more out there. The amount of nonsense you've peddled forth which you've selectively ignored, in this thread yet still try to maintain that you have sound basis to your points is laughable and just proves you have no shame. You should have stopped digging a hole for yourself a long time ago, yet you seem to have a masochistic side to your nature where you enjoy being humiliated and embarrassing yourself. Btw Rodger and Floyd Sr are in their 60's and fought at a far higher level. Not to mention they don't need a room full of pills just to function and stop themselves from killing someone. I'd rather see a retired fighter with slurred speech, than one who is so brain damaged and demented from the result of it, that they descend into psychotic rages which lead them on the verge of maiming someone because their partner forget to remind them to take a tablet. The reason why it is hard to find the names of all the brain damaged victims in mma because many of those fighters are not relevant and so no one really accounts for them besides putting them in a statistic. Boxing will have more instances of brain damage and deaths, because it has been going on for a far longer period than your joke sport. This doesn't take away the fact that mma is far more barbaric, inhumane and exploitative than boxing. A sport that encourages the use of every possible violent method to destroy the other individual with hardly any limits to the rules, while paying the participants a pittance to entertain uneducated moronic fools like yourself, is not what I would call legitimate or credible.
Big drama show. We hate Floyd and he never lost an actual fight so we hang on to that dubiously scored Castillo fight and the odd set of rounds here and there.
Just watched it again for the fun of it. It was actually very entertaining. Even though Conor was gassing from the 4th round on, he did very well right up until halfway though the 9th. At that point I had it 4 rounds each, genuinely. I had forgotten on the night, but right at the start of the 9th Conor came out guns blazing and ripped Floyd with a right to the body that near doubled him over. Ref called it a low blow, but it wasn't, it was high on the belt line and it hurt him, you can tell by the way he backed off, but his hands didn't go to his groin. After that he was spent and Floyd took control. It was good stuff, and actually watching it a second time I feel Conor did better than I thought on the night.
