What's harder to deal with when fighting bigger men? Their power or their chin?

He has to be trolling right now. It's like WTF. Does this guy really think those tiny *******s down in the low weights can take a punch as well as a HW?

Why do not think I DIDNT say there is a difference? I said there was. No lying needed now please.

I am considering a flush shot, pure chin alone. Explain the difference in the result in each one taking a 200lb flush shot to the jaw without any boxing in return.

What is the result in each case? let me know.

According the Herol, GGG is training for a glass chin here:

Damn, boxers are dumb, they should listen to him cause he knows how to stop a shot.

Well if Arguello got hit by a Joe Frazier left hook he may require medical assistance because it could seriously **** him up. Tyson would probably go down, but his short term health would not actually be put in danger like a smaller man's would.

Herol has a half assed grasp of what he's saying.

The only sensible thing he said was that rolling with a punch diminishes the effect. But he doesn't understand why.

WHY is simple. If you are running at 10 k/h and get hit by a car at 20 k/h going the same way, you effectively got hit by the force of a car going at 10k/h. You receive the full 20 k/h impact if you are standing still and if the car hits you at 20 while you are going at 10 in the opposite direction, the kinetic energy is equivalent to a car going at 30.

Rolling with a punch sets your brain in motion in the same direction as a punch so that the trauma is effectively lessened.

its already been explained. the damage comes from slamming the brain against the bone plates protecting the brain. you can also lose consciousness by pressure on the mandibular nerve which runs behind the hinges of the jaw, it doesnt even take that much power, just enough to push the jaw up into the nerve.
the brain is protected by fluid that sits between it and the bone walls of the head, when a fighter is drained, a lot of that fluid is also drained so it doesnt take as much power to get it slammed against the sides, which will make a fighter much more vulnerable to ko.

    Great post!

A short, powerful neck and large dense skull is a necessity. The ability to strengthen the neck and (defensively) avoid direct shots to the chin is absolutely key. Marvin Hagler was offended, and called racism, on the fact that doctors believed he has "extra" muscles in his neck that stabilized his head. Maybe true, maybe false, but nonetheless he had all the above mentioned qualifications.

GGG and Canelo have these qualities. Neither has ever been staggered by a punch. Going to be a war of attrition.

I'm sorry if my naming of bones or English is sub par but; which facial bone is then that you mean would increase general punch resistance?

Moving away from a punch decrease the impact, yes, I'm not arguing with that but also don't see what news that bring. That's like saying not getting hit is better then getting hit. The movement I though we were talking about was not movement in the ring, but movement of the head. That seems as relevant as your essay about bone structure, if you still don't believe that the facial bones has anything to do with punch resistance.

Your missing the target, by moving your head (from a chin punch), the movement of the upper part of the head (where most people have their brain located) increases. It is also generating more movement of the brain as a punch directly to the forehead would, since the levering effect that the chin has.

More movement of the chin (cause by a punch), causes more movement of the brain.

The decrease in movement of the head when going from LW to HW is because of the impact is absorbed by the increased mass of the target. That impact energy simply "goes away" from accelerating your head. Therefore that "lack" of acceleration is not dangerous, and not absorbed by the brain or it's fluids.

One more question that never will see an answer: by your logic that the movement of the head decreased the damage, does the general LW have better punch resistance than the HW? I mean, their head would move more from the same punch.

This is what I don't want to think about! :)

The headgear keeps me safe, just as the seat belt on the plane...
