Why does boxing not have a level playing field? Why are the judges, referees,

boxing commissions usually corrupt? It should be illegal for judges, referees, boxing commissions to be owned by certain promoters. Over the years I've seen way too many corrupt decisions, fans boo, but the promoters do not listen, they know they can get away with it. I would love to see a boxing match when the best boxer wins a fight, that does happen sometimes, but all too often, we see the house fighter lose a fight, but get the decision, the crowd booing does not bother the powers-that-be, or we see a total mismatch, not even a good sparring session....................why does a fighter have to be undefeated at all costs? In the old days we did not see much of that at all.

How many times do we see threads about, Golovkin has to get a knockout to win the fight, he can't win a decision? Why do we say that? Or rather why do we accept that? It's become a common theme..................if you have the right promoter you don't have to worry about losing a fight. We need neutral judges, referees, boxing commissions badly..................I want the real winner of a fight to win the fight....................I remember when the mafia owned Vegas, now it's the corporations, but which is worse? I just want to see a real fair fight with a level playing field...................May the best man win.................

No wonder Ward said that neutral judges would be unfair............................

I think you already know the answer. Because: promoters.

Boxing is run by self-interested, competing corporations with contractual control of individual boxers. It's not as explicit as you say it is, most fights are 'fair' as far as it goes, but you're right that because of boxing's structure there's so many mismatches and there's a 'preferred' winner in every fight. Promoters make the fights and pay the officials. Commissions kiss ass because if they don't the show won't go on and the fights won't happen. Commissions therefore don't actually have regulatory power. In my opinion boxing isn't and won't be a proper competitive sport unless its run by a single international governing body.

The reason why change especially in the US is so unlikely is because the problem isn't just boxing: it's neoliberalism. The law entrenches commissions as the sole regulatory authorities over boxing. But it's an illusion that their purpose is to make boxing safe. The law gives commissions power so they can get out of the way and allow promoters to put on events, because promoters supposedly know how to put bums in arenas and eyes in front of screens and are good for the economy. Interestingly, AIBA was able to govern pro boxing shows in Europe and elsewhere, but in the US for the WSB fights commissions had to be involved and AIBA had to be recognised as the 'promoter'. The truth is there won't be change and a level playing field unless the law giving commissions and promoters power is ripped up. And unless there's a more socialist US government that won't happen.

In the world as it is an outside body won't have power to fight the authority of promoters, so only if an international pro boxing governing body is formed from above by promoters uniting might the law change, and promoters be killed off. My hope is Richard Schaefer's WBSS can be the force that leads to this, but obviously at this point that is the height of fantasy.

have you heard of the boy who cried wolf?

any ****ing competitive fight (especially the big name ones) that go down to the wire are listed as robberys.

maybe if you guys weren't weak asses who cant handle your boy lost or you got a fight prediction wrong the claim of a robbery might hold some ****ing weight

So what happens when they get neutral judges and you STILL don't agree with their decision?

He is a repetitive troll. And to use the Ward-Kovalev fights as a rallying cry to point to the reality of boxing is bizarre and Ward-hating, as they sure weren't cases of injustice. But because of the structure of boxing it IS the reality that there isn't a true level playing field, so worth it for the more honest of us to talk about it.

I like the idea that Richard Schaefer is going to defeat neoliberalism and lead boxing to a socialist utopia.

Also, why would promoters join an international body that would govern them and kill them off?

I'd say that the reason things are so unequal is because boxing isn't a team sport, and individuals have no stake in the well being of the greater whole, but if Tennis has a single governing body, that would put the kabash on that thought.

    Money is the bottom line.

Fighters are protected by promoters if they are considered to be most marketable.

Boxing's always been rigged. It's never going to change.

If he didn't get the message clearly the first time via that decision when he complained about being Rob-Ed, he sure as hell got it that last time by having his gonads blasted back to Russia courtesy of Ward.

There needs to be a way to insure an even playing field. Whether bad decisions are made due to incompetence or corruption, it needs to stop! That being said, Ward whooped up on Kovalev fair and square in the rematch and got a squeaky close decision in their first bout. Nothing to get all up set about.

It's like the saying goes, "Money [or material gain] makes the world go round."

Wars are fought over it and human lives are deemed expendable. So why should we expect it to be any different when it comes to boxing?

It's like my former employer Dental Lab owner Sunahara said just prior to firing me when I respectfully requested small raise in salary:

"When it comes to money, people will do strange things!"
