Valuev fits the mold of the usual Louis victim. But Valuev is a giant even larger than Carnera . How does Joe Louis handle this giant? Would Valuev be assaulted? Or could Valuev pull a Monte Barret?

He would fight Valuev as he did Carnera. Sidestepping and circling his opponent and coming over with quick crushing counterpunches. Louis by eighth round KO.

Joe Louis Wtko valuev round 9. The big guy would be staggering around the ring, Busted and bloodied, the ref would jump in.

The Carnera fight showed that Louis could use lateral movement when he needed to

Don't look like any real lateral movement to me unless you count continually and endlessly circling to the right only, lateral movement? Watching that, I keep think why can't Carnera see that Louis is only circling to the right and never to the left and moving straight into a timed right hand?

Jack.... the issue is that Louis gets falsely pegged as having only one shuffling straight ahead style. Simply untrue. Louis showed a wide variety of skill sets when he needed to exhibit them. Max Baer and Carnera....keenly side stepping, boxing and counterpunching. Ramage...attacking via bobbing and weaving.
    Godoy......counterpunching and attacking crouching mauler.

Louis could do it all and exhibited skills still unmatched in the hwt division to this very day.

Many think if you dont aimlessly bounce around the ring like a bunny rabbit on drugs then you have bad footwork or were a crappy fighter.

This would have been a KO for the ages. Valuev was a relatively immobile target. No head movement and Louis had those 5 punch deadly combination bursts.

That would have been a loud crash when Valuev hit the canvas

And if Larry Merchant and George Foreman were commentators for that fight, the commentary would be gold.

I have to say, Primo had a pretty good showing against Louis.
