    1) James
    2) Floyd

James went from MW to HW. Won titles in every division he campaigned in. Oh, and he never got knocked out.

Do you know how much skill you have to have to do that? Or have a chin of granite? James had both. Oh, and he's been a pro since like 1988. Ridiculous amount of time he's been in the game.

Floyd's legacy is better, but people are sleeping on James's. His best wins are phenomenal names like McCallum, Nunn & Holyfield. Just a shame as he could have been so much more and that is scary to think about.

Toney would only have a case for skills if boxers were required to wear cement shoes.

Yeah, that somewhat sums it up. I can't really think of anything Toney could do that Mayweather couldn't do, but Floyd could move in a way that James couldn't. You could of course argue that that was down more to athleticism than skill. Those are hard to completely separate, but there's little doubt that Floyd was harder to catch up with.

In my opinion Toney was the more skilled fighter. More fluid counter puncher, better compination puncher and the harder puncher.

You are right that Floyd has the better footwork. He did also got less hit in there but that is only because he puts his mind on defense only, whereas Toney is a much more offensive minded fighter.

I'd say legacy wise it's Floyd, just cause his work ethic is 1000 times better than Toney's so he has never reached low stages in his career unlike Toney.

In terms of skills there can be hot discussion. Both had great defensive skills, but it's totally different. Offensively Toney was more dangerous as he was definitely a harder hitter and threw more combinations agaisnt A-level opponents (I mean in-shape Toney).

I'd wish Toney had Floyd's work ethic and motivation for training. Unfortunately, he never had it.

Probably harder puncher, yeah, (but not a significant difference p4p if you compare 130-135 lbs Floyd with 160-168 lbs Toney) but I don't see that as a skill. Combination punching definitely is a skill, though, and mature Floyd hardly threw any combinations (he did when younger, though) so I can't really argue with picking Toney here. Quite even in terms of head movement imo, even though I think Toney was the more aesthetically pleasing.

But besides more varied footwork I'd also have Floyd as the more adaptable.

If Toney had Mayweathers work ethic and dedication, we'd be putting him(Toney) up there with R.Robinson. He had all the skills to be a ATG, maybe G.O.A.T , but because of his laziness, he'll be remembered as a shouldve been. But to answer the question asked in this post, Mayweather,by a mile, he wanted it more.

Floyd on this one. He had that thing speed, which James did not have. Speed is the thing which the elites have over the others.

toney has to have the most overrated defensive game i've ever seen. fans ohhing and ahhing as he attempts to slip and gets get caught with another flush punch.

he has the defensive equivalent to shoe shining at the end of the round to steal it.
