Floyd at 29 vs current conor mcgrgeor in a octagon, how does that end? Lmao...that's what i thought next. Oh yea you have more confidence in joshuas abilitys in the octagon then he has in himself, pretty much renders that weak argument useless. You comparing a high level wrestlers technique to some teenagers, proves you don't know what you're looking at and probably shouldn't be speaking on something you're not very educated on
Lol @ the baddest man in mma whith zero title defenses and got finished by nate diaz 3 fights ago in two rounds, how many rounds did it take may in his own sport? The delusion is hilarious
Its OK pal, we know that Conor was the perceived face of MMA to many casuals but lets not pretend that some of the hardcore contingency also were in awe of the Irishman. Do you think Dana would have let Conor fight Floyd had he not have fell for the hype himself? I honestly think the majority of MMA fans only had John Jones above Conor but once he got caught then Conor was the guy/face of MMA. I'm not saying that was your opinion but if you feel my post was directed at you then that's your problem
Floyd at 29 was even smaller at 140. How about Jermall Charlo at 28 in the Octogon, who will also blow up to 170 by fight time? Christ, you can't fight someone like him. He's actually fast and young and hits hard and is a reigning champ and is MEAN. He might move a little faster than a 40 year old obese guy like Toney with brain damage. He might actually have fast hands and throw more than six punches. Can't have anyone the same size, the same age, the same speed and more power ... someone who isn't even great ... just a top fighter in his prime the same size who will go to war with you. That wouldn't do. That's what I thought ... next.
Casuals and knowledgeable mma fans aren't the same. Knowledgeable mma fans knew.conor wouldn't win vs floyd, i waa genuinely surprised he did as well as he did a pro debut boxer supposed to be doing 12 rounds? Him gassing was predictable Anyway dana whites another moron, when he said ronda would beat Floyd i legit lold, even if it was mma, floyd would catch ronda with her chin up in the first 15 seconds, i said from the beginning that ronda was overrated, she was simply in the right place at the right time her judo throws only worked against over aggressive fighters who charge her, any fighter witha sense of distance would have beat her. The problem is grouping mma fans into one group, the majority will have conor as a underdog when he finally decides to defend his title. Conors probably one of the best strikers in mma thats a fair statement, but even then that's not enough to beat a atg boxer in a boxing match, howevery a thai boxing match or kickboxing match? I could see conor winning and that's much more interesting
If he's one of the best strikers, then that's pathetic. McGregor throws the softest punches I've seen from someone his size in 'forever.' No chin. No power. No stamina. None. But he's one of the best strikers in that sport? That says plenty. He got outpunched and stopped by a short average puncher who started at 130 pounds. How would McGregor do against someone who could punch who was actually his size? I shudder at the thought.
He wasn't expected to be totally ignorant on how to power punch or unwilling to power punch and that he was virtually an asthmatic or would behave as if he were and asthmatic..
I still cant believe this fight will go on Floyd's record. claiming a victory from this farce is disgraceful imo
Hmm charlo a pure boxer with no defensive wrestling, no bjj, and no experience dealing with kicks? I would say the fight ends after the first clinch, when charlo realizes the ref doesn't separate and you actually have to grapple to improve position, conor may not be a elite grappler compared to the top mma grapplers but hes a solid purple (may be brown belt now) in bjj, and has solid takedown, with very good rangy kicks. Charlo is a guy who would have a legit punchers chance but is not equipped to deal with all the other aspects of the sport, that's the fact of the matter.
Lol this post spells delusion, I love how floyd only two years removed from shutting berto out, has somehow turned into this over the hill boxer, floyd STILL beats berto, pac, ortiz ect ect. No chin? Based on what? Floyd never even hurt conor the same 1-2 that shut ortiz lights out, conor was eating with his mouth wide open completely fatigued, there's absolutely nothing in that fight that suggest conors chin is shaky, delusion. Someone with soft punches managed to hurt floyd with a body shot never seen that happen before. And you do realize striking is more then punching right bud? Striking invovles eight weapons, boxing uses two..mcgrgeor ditched 6 of his other weapons on the feet to meet floyd in his arena, not really sad when you consider the fact floyd would have probably actaully been kod had kicks and knees in the clinch been allowed thai boxing style. The post you just made actually discredits boxing, you make it seem like any random bum can win rounds over floyd and tag him with shots, conor lost because it was a boxing match against one of the best boxers ever, that's the only conclusion you can draw from.the fight, you're trying too hard and it's pathetic. Floyd won under the ruleset floyd has mastered, they didn't have a striking match try Again
Look that's all good, I try not to lump all MMA fans as one that's why I always look to word how I address a group of people so that there is a little distinction in who I am addressing. If anyone is to blame its Conor Mcgregor and his team, they should have known what would happen if they stepped into the ring against a master. And not for one second do I believe that they are stupid people, I believe they were arrogant and presumptuous. How do I know this? because there is plenty of footage available of them talking about this fight. Remember that Floyd was retired, he wasn't the one who needed his ego fed, he already knew he had conquered boxing and didn't need to prove how good he was. Conor is an example of society nowadays, he watches too much TV and soaks in too much pop culture. Everything he does seems like a TV show and the reason he can sell it well is because he believes it himself. The reason his fans fall for it is because they follow the same culture, I blame people like Joe Rogan, this whole alpha male, life hack bull**** that they promote, it becomes toxic and leads to disappointment. It deludes people into thinking that old things are somehow inferior and working "smarter" is better than working harder. Greatness is not something you can force, it is honed and there are no shortcuts. Conor tried to shortcut his way into boxing, into greatness and for that he deserves all the criticism he receives.
Of course he's equipped. I would take Jermall Charlo in a streetfight, in the Octagon, in a boxing ring, in a nightclub, or in the parking lot over Connor McGregor any day. Charlo is powerful and athletic and fast and mean, not a punchy, obese, top heavy 40-year-old who doesn't realize someone is going for his leg. Top boxing champions in their primes aren't the same as the mopes getting their butts kicked in MMA. They have speed, endurance, athleticism, power and great chins ... and if MMA guys had any of those traits, they'd box. Because they'd make more money doing that than in any of the others. But they don't. So they choose to compete in matches where they can twist someone's arm and win, because they know they'd get their brains beaten in otherwise.
Any random bum could when Mayweather's dad tells him not to punch until the fourth round. If you told me Floyd would throw one punch a round ... name any pro boxer at 154 ... and I'd say that other guy probably wins the round. Name another time Mayweather landed one punch in a round and won that round? He couldn't do that when he was in his 20s and active. Forget when he's in his 40s and is outweighed by 20 pounds or so. And when he did start punching, McGregor started floundering all around the ring.
listen kid you have no idea what you're talking about its that simple, i have done both sports, people don't become Olympic wrestlers because they cant box, you're delusional and have done neither sport. a white belt isnt equipped to deal with a purple belt on the ground, all of charlos so called experience and athleticism doesn't matter because he becomes a fish out of water on the ground, you have never grappled so i wouldn't expect you to know, just realize you sound like a idiot to anyone who's done both sports. is andre ward not a prime athletic monster? how come he admits to gettting choked out by nick diaz? fish out of water bud, cry about it, if boxing was the best self defense, then they wouldn't be training marines in mma. there's a method behind it..because they want conor tired that simple, did floyds dad tell floyd to get hit with jabs and uppercuts as well? no. let me tell you a well known fact in competition, going out and LOSING rounds is never the gameplan, going out a being cautious and waiting for the opponent to fatigue is the gameplan, thats very different than literally handing conor the rounds. if floyd could have shut conor out he would have, problem was conor being the longest fighter floyd every fought, floyd took his time to get on the inside, and the inevitable happens, pro debut boxers dont start in 12 round fights. if floyd was fighting a complete bum, he would have kod him in the first, not show enough respect to wait until he fatigues before really engaging. you dont know what you're talking about kid. you're just a spectator stay in your lane..
