The enclave that Vasyl comes from is exclusively Greek, its not all of Ukraine which was settled by various people previous to the arrival of the Rus

 

The ancient Bulgarians were not Indo-European, let alone Slavic & they did dwell near Kuban & possibly have Adyghe substratum, but the primary culture/language of the original Bulgarians was Turkic, the Adyghe substratum is possible.

Modern Bulgarian is the main Slavic element in Southern Europe, don't forget the big Latin population that separates modern Bulgaria from Odessa (Romania/Wallachia/Moldavia).
