With this I agree that Mayweather is excellent in marketing his fights. He holds the top 4 of 5 most viewed PPV buys in history 1. Mayweather-Pacquiao 2. Mayweather-Macgregor 3. Dela Hoya-Mayweather 4. Mayweather-Alvarez 5. Holyfield-Tyson 2 But if Oscar never passed the torch to Floyd and Manny, it is unlikely they will carry such big numbers. Credit always goes to Oscar dela Hoya.
There are no "real" pass the torch fights. Oscar was a ladies man and that sold big, plus he could scrap, Mayweather played the flamboyant villain like many popular Black fighters before him (Johnson, Ali, Tyson, Robinson), and Pacquiao was truly a phenom that was then marketed as the villain killer after his dispatching of Cotto. Oscar De La Hoya does not get credit because Mosley beat him 2x and he was NEVER a superstar, understand? The people decide who they like and don't like, not the promoters , trainers, and osmosis. Hell if we went by YOUR logic then we owe Mayweathers success to Roger Mayweather who was the 1st REAL opponent that Chavez faced after fighting guys with 23-11-0 records, then losing to Oscar and then Oscar losing to Floyd and Manny and then...man **** you!!!
it didn't even break the record pac vs may espinozy said they hope to break it.....it might not even do 4 mill buys
Yeah but you flaked out of a ban bet with My boy Barrera when Floyd beat pac.... I dont do ban bets with clowns like u.
o shut up ****** you made a thread saying if canelo loses ban me that has nothing to do with me our bet is completely different SOWEEY i voted for may to win in the main polls before the fight happened You dumb doe!
I don't count WWE as a fight, but there were some ignorant enough to pay for such a sick joke...................really sad day for boxing..................what if Golovkin had fought a fighter with a 0-0-0 record, or Marciano, Klitschkos, hell, even Wilder's winos were better than Conor.....................
Because Floyd Mayweather is the exemption to the rule. He fights a 0-0-0 record and it is okay for NSAC and everyone else. Double standards - what can you do?
Records are made to be broken. But then look at Michael Jackson's thriller 33 years later and still nobodies gotten close to beating his album sales record. If the format changes, if boxing in the US continues to become more niche then yes it's very possible Mayweather's PPV record may never be beaten.
dan raf said it wont wont break the ppv record and said its around 4 mill buys espy came out himself saying they never broke the record
