Bloody hell, that's a pretty big statement for a pro debut. That fires him straight in and around British level. I expected given his amateur experience / age they would fast track him but that is a commendable first fight.

yea they will need to move him fast because of his age so not really surprised. plus hes been sparing with top pro fighters for years he should be able to handle lewison easy. however I don't think joyce will ever become a world champion. british champ/commonwealth sure yes European champion? I would even say yes to that . but at best he gets a world title shot and loses I think.

I saw Haye on the BBC today saying they were going to fast track him, start him off with 10 rounders and expect him to be a champion in 2 years. So we can expect Joyce to be moved along very quickly.

He's 31? Yes they kind of have to fast track him, he's already past prime.

Very good first fight if it's true. It will be interesting to see how he does as a pro. At 31 he's pretty old for someone just turning pro anyway. Also has a questionable chin and not a very good defence. However, his size, power and work rate could cause problems for many decent fighters as he reaches his peak. Not sure if he'll end up a world champion but considering the sort of people that manage to win titles these days (e.g. Charles Martin) it wouldn't be a surprise to see him manage it.

Very solid opponent for your pro debut. Joyce's fitness and stamina were exceptional in the amateurs so I don't think going 10 rounds is going to be a struggle for him.

Good fight, Joyce is going the fast track and good on him.

I think he'll stop Lewison late.

Nice start. Hopefully Hrgovic and Dychko will follow suit with solid opponents.

I think Joyce shows in his debut that he's already better than Whyte

Scratching my head here... Is this one of the best heavyweight debuts ever? Maskaevs debut against the 21-0 Alexander Miroshnichenko(stellar amateur background) probably takes the cake for the best HW debut though surely? Although in the last 20 years, it's hard to think of anything this good. Really impressive.

@Rumsfeld @IntentionalButt Surely this is up there for one of the best HW debuts ever? Is there anything comparable apart from Maskaevs debut against Miroshnichenko?
