He was 39 against Holmes and 40 against Berbick and already showing signs of Parkinsons...should have never been allowed to fight in both those matches one of the saddest things I have ever seen...to give credit to both Holmes and Berbick is a Joke.!!!

yeh the only thing you can credit holmo for is for crying in shame after his fight, and going easy on ali.

Mr Berbick on the other hand whooped with joy Joe cowardzaghe style after whupping his Parkinsonians patient. totally classless.

You make it sound as if I'm gloating. I assure you I am not and was maybe more deeply saddened than you on his loss to Holmes in that cruel manner
But he has himself to blame for taking the fight, and the ref and his corner are to blame for letting it go that far.

All I am doing is objectively mentioning those losses to which he agreed to take if he lost. As for my personal opinion, he should not have been in the ring while under that condition. Furthermore as I said, his greatness doesn't totally depend on his boxing ability nor his record.

Holme's did what? Go easy on Ali? Ali himself asked him on his hospital bed why he had to put such a severe beating on him and later asked Tyson to get revenge on Holmes for him. Holmes was being told in his corner that if he didn't knock Ali out they were going to cheat him out of a win on the cards and Holme's was going all out to do just that and that's exactly what the video evidence shows him doing-going all out for a KO..

Spinks was undefeated when he defeated Ali.
Larry Holmes was HW champ of the world, Ali was a washed up boxer with indications of Parkinsons' Disease.
Joe Frazier was HW champ WBA WBC when he defeated Ali.
Norton was "NABF HW Champ" when he defeated Ali; yes Ali was given a gift in the second fight.

Ali is not my favorite fighter but you'll need more than that to cast mud on his record.

The one casting mud on him is you by insisting that his greatness is only based primarily on his fighting ability. I suppose if Louis's losses to Shmelling and Marciano are mentioned that is also casting mud.

    BTW

The second Norton fight wasn't the only one in which Ali got a gift from the judges. Jimmie Young clearly out-pointed him and the Earnie Shavers decision is also very questionable as was the first Norton fight. So I guess we disagree on his record.

Oh stop, please. There was no mud in my comment. Yes, he got a gift vs Jimmy Young.

Neither was there any mud intended in mine! As for yours. If indeed you think that Ali's greatness is just based on his fighting ability and record you are doing a great injustice to the man and need to become more informed about him.

FFS I don't think his greatness is based only on his boxing career. OK, I said it. Happy now? I'm happy now.

I know where you are coming from....but my point was there are a lot on here who give Holmes and Berbick Creedence for defeating Ali at that stage of His career...I realise you are not one of them...

Not one fighter you've named would have had a prayer against a prime Ali. Also remember we were deprived of seeing Ali's
skills for 3 1/2 years during his ludicrous political ban
