The contract allows Alvarez to weigh as much as he wants fight night, but Golovkin can't weigh more than 170, Why? Alvarez does not have to test for drugs, Golovkin does, Why? Alvarez gets 70% of the money, Golovkin only gets 30% even though he is the champion, Why? Oscar will own and control the judges, referee and boxing commission, why? Fights should be on a level playing field. However, Golovkin can punch hard, he can take huge punches, has much better timing, better foot work, better balance, better left jab, better right hand, better left hook, better uppercut, better body punches and a better defense if he uses it. If Alvarez' punches can't hurt Golovkin, then look out, the referee will have to think of some way to save Alvarez or he won't get paid by Oscar..................

Oscar said there is no rehydration clause for this fight.

That's different from what I read, but Alvarez has a rematch clause for a reason............could be they might actually try to fight fairly, but I really doubt it. Vegas is extremely corrupt, has been for years........

Canelo needed that weight to withstand GGG punches, he be heavy as 190 pounds.

Yes, that is what Jacobs weighed. Why no drug testing for Alvarez? Why did they not have drug testing for Jacobs? Damn, Jacobs can carry 190 lbs., he is 6 feet 1 inches tall, but Alvarez is much shorter......................It appears as if Alvarez plans on trying to knock Golovkin out early, that's why he gained so much weight, plus the steroids, but I don't think Golovkin will get hurt by Alvarez' punches......................although Tony Weeks will allow Alvarez to land to the testicles, if not weeks, then some other criminal.....................

Well, doesn't seem rational for a guy known to have stamina issues to try and get bigger, especially since his power doesn't seem to increase with weight. Whatever keeps his boat afloat, I guess.

Maybe he thinks that the extra weight will help him handle Golovkin's punches better? But I agree with you that if he's not careful he could exacerbate his stamina issues.

If that's his goal then joke's on him, all that weight will be harder to get up from the canvas after KD.

On a serious note, how would weight help his punch resistance?

Not trying to sound like a nut-hugger, but I don't think he can gain enough to get that punch resistance. Golovkin's been sparring much bigger guys, all of them claimed he hits like a truck, Canelos chin will stay all the same no matter what weight too. He can't KO Golovkin so one would think that he'll use his only valuable asset - handspeed/counter-puching. By gaining weight he shoots himself in the foot, in my opinion.

Well I am a GGG nut hugger ;) I think that Alvarez may well gain punch resistance but that he will lose speed and stamina. I think that by round 6 he's going to look like AJ looked against Wlad ... utterly gassed and ripe for the picking. The difference is that Wlad plays chess and GGG is a shark. I think we agree here thatthe extra weight is probably bad for Alvarez if his speed/stamina take a hit. It's just going to mean a longer beating.

One the other hand the whole Canelo team can't be stupid and make him bulk up for no reason. They've got something on their mind, that much is clear. As clear as "everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth" :D
We'll see, all this logic and basic common sense is just that, for all we know, Canelo might bumrush Golovkin and make Abel throw in the towel :D

He's always been a beast, let's have it right Canelo is a short, fat, stocky light middleweight who's been cutting weight to make his 155 Canelo weight.
Still the question I have for Canelo fans getting carried away by talk of knock outs ect is,where has the acclimation to 160 been from Canelo?

Cottos brother had him as hurt as I've seen Canelo with, wait for it,a left hook,GGG has a pretty decent left hook
