As the title suggest, has anyone ever experienced this? Should I move to a different gym or just make the best of it?

Just a little background on myself, I started going to a boxing gym a little over a month ago and I gotta say, I love every second of it. I always give it 110% and always try to learn new things and give it my all. The problem is though, that although I love working out and hitting the heavy bag and sparring, the gym owner/trainer, doesn't really teach me anything or at least isn't willing to. Maybe I'm overthinking it and it may be the same everywhere but...it has become pretty apparent that the owner has his favorites...

Like today, there were 4 people including me training in the gym. And usually he'll do mitts/drills with everyone. No problem, everyone has a turn, whatever.. But after the 3 people went ahead and did their thing, he just finished and went back to his desk and walked right past me. I wouldn't think much of it except, he's done this more than once specifically to me and I really...don't know what to do. I know I'm a beginner and all and granted, most of the people there have there at least a year but still.. I've seen him more than once train/do mitts with beginners but only with me, nope. Only the first day I joined is when he really trained me...

The only good thing about this gym is that it has all the equipment needed to become a great boxer and the rest of the people are extremely nice to me and teach me things. (although I have to ask them to do mitts/sparring but they always say yes :))

But what do you guys think? Has this ever happened to you? This gym is really close to my house and cheap. The environment isn't so bad and the people there are nice. Just the trainer is, and I hate to curse, a bit of a d*ck to me.

    Any help would be appreciative.

Try another gym IMO and soon.

This is a customer business just like anything else, that approach gets you 4 people in your business. None of our trainers are like that, they would not be employed.

Stay at the gym and keep working hard. Stick with it. He wants to see if you are actually into the sport and not there just to try it out. Your trainer isn't looking to waste his time.

How much do you pay per month?

If you pay then you should demand him to move his ass a little and do his job (in nicer words). If nothing changes you are just been left behind, depending of peoples good will to do his job and that is not cute.

You should check some other gyms around just in case.

What is the point of going to the gym? To get the trainers attention?

If you're serious about competing, let him know.
    Ask questions:
"Do you think I'm ready to compete, because I'd like to soon."
"What is the one thing you think I should work on right now?" Then work on it, and ask him if you are improving. Get him engaged with your development.

You also need to make sure you're at a good gym.
Are there other amateurs and professionals there?

No it's not - you have no experience as a staff member or pro fighter in a professional gym and are butthurt. I am not going to bother trying to change you one bit so my comments are to the OP.

If you are a professional trainer then you should be engaged with everybody that walks through the door. You are there to help, not be a prima donna and have to be approached like some demigod.

This trainers approach breeds conceit, low numbers, high turnover and poor performance - hence why there are only four people in the gym, no structure and you have to plead for help like a beggar.

Our gym and every successful gym I have ever seen is the complete opposite hence why they have state, national and world champs in multi disciplines train there.

There's your issue right there - this fella is not even at competition stage, he is new to the gym and is not getting basic respect of being shown the ropes let alone improve. Read his post carefully, esp. about the first session. See the hypocrisy on the trainer's part?

If the trainer does conduct his class in the manner described than he is doing himself and his prospects no justice.

"you have no experience as a staff member in a professional gym and are butt hurt at our previous encounter."

Lol uh what? Sorry but I don't intend to make it my life's work to be a towel boy at LA Fitness. I don't even remember what our previous encounter was about but you seem to be pretty self conscious about it stemming from the fact that you replied with a 4 paragraph response to my 3 word reply.

Why should a head trainer waste time with someone who has only been there for a month when he can work with dedicated fighters who are actually trying to go somewhere. No time for people who might just flake out. If he expresses that he wants to compete and still gets no attention then yeah I would ditch that place however he has not.

Telling someone to "Try another gym IMO and soon." is terrible advice for someone who has only been there for a month and hasn't expressed that they want to compete.

LA Fitness - that's funny. I thought you are a bum boy at the Blue Oyster Bar myself.
Read his post instead of creating your own rubbish version. Trainer was able to hold the pads in the session when he paid $ then nothing since. He has four people, works three and ignores one to wak back to his desk! A desk - what the fark is he doing sitting at a desk with people on the floor?

Your sheet at giving advice because you don't farkin read thus why I remember you - you go blindly off your own version. I didn't bother commenting on your "advice" as such and addressed the OP.

You're lying. He didn't pay for pad work, he paid to train at a gym(use the equipment). When I started training at a gym I was told that they wouldn't work with me too much because I am white and that blacks are the better athletes. 3 weeks later I proved them wrong in sparring and started getting attention for free.

Time for you to grow up.

You deliberately misread my post - I referred his own observation that the very session he forked over $ the trainer gave him attention, since then nothing except what he feels is disrespect - I agree.

This is a prime example of how you misread and then go off on your own tangent. I bet you have not re-read the OP's original post but instead bull at a gate for your own thing.

Grow up yourself and stop calling people liars when it is you that cannot read properly.

For you Dagowop as you cannot find it. "Only the first day I joined is when he really trained me" - the day cash exchanged. The fact the OP noticed this shows what a bad stench it leaves.

Funny you talk about not reading the OP's post when he specifically says the others have been training for 1+ years. Hmmm, now who is he going to focus on more? The guys who repeatedly come back and put in work or someone who has only been training for a month? You act like people don't quit...

You have the inability to actually exchange ideas in a formal setting noted by your arrogance and immediate assumptions. Tell me, what is my name? Where do I live? How old am I?

He had four guys and ignores one of them? Did he have pressing farkin business at his desk? What - managing all the fighters that aren't there? Comment on that pal - where is this farkin desk and why would he leave people to go and sit on his arse in his office?

Don't try and get all high and mighty , formal setting my butt, when you toss liar accusations about - not having it.
