Was watching some old fights the other night and Walcott was ko'ing Charles with a brutal left hook, and actually getting robbed against Louis . Then watched some Evander fights, Don't recall this thread before but who do you like in this matchup? I think it'd be a great one.
I would lean towards Jersey Joe in a close decision. Good fight and tough to call. I am sure this has been done sometime before by I can't remember when. I am interested in hearing others takes on this one. Walcott is my initial choice but need to think on it
If this fought at CW Walcott would be too experience. However at HW advantage Holyfield with extra 20 lbs muscle , increased punching power , resistance , stamina and experience. Holyfield on points at HW.
Holyfield. Bigger, stronger, rougher, and probably tougher (chin wise). Faster hands, better combination puncher, just as mobile as Walcott. Great stamina and conditioning.
Holyfield was the more durable and more aggressive. He could counter well too. I think he stops Walcott late if this is a version of Holyfield without excuses.
I think its close. Holyfield was great also but besides toughness I don't really think he had other advantages in this match up. Walcott had great footwork, head movment and power. He was a lot more tricky then Holyfield who could do different things but I dont think he was on Walcotts level. I think Walcott would out box him and Holyfields chance would be the knock out. Probably Holyfield could score the knock out if they fought a few times.
Holyfield KOs him imo. After watching Walcott vs Marciano last night, I was surprised at the notion of Walcott being super skilled, as I normally am. I just can't see Walcott dancing to a decision, coz he was too happy to trade. Walcott relied on headmovement and footwork against Marciano and Louis, as well as a few other nifty tricks. Which worked as he was faster, but he wouldn't be faster here, meaning he gets hit more. Holy was also a nice body puncher, he'd wear JJW down with them and would be able to outmucsle JJW and cut the ring off effectively, building on what Rocky did. Holyfield would take his best quite easily as well imo, and would land a counter which Walcott can't take after a long ordeal. Basically I see JJW giving a great account of himself, but even with all his tricks and talent, losing to the best. Holyfield KO11
