Floyd 'cherry picked' and still ended up with a better resume than Toney.

Don't act like Toney didn't cherry pick.

I would have thought "career middle" would mean someone who was a middleweight for their whole career, or most of it. But whatever.

Sam Peter was a legit heayweight. I agree. I didn't imply he wasn't. My point was all about Toney. He gets no passes for being "light" or "small" for heavyweight, since he was well and truly bulked up and on 'roids.

    Floyd: 130 pounds - 154 pounds : 24 pounds

    Toney : 160 pounds - 190 pounds : 30 pounds
Toney: 160 pounds - over 200 (fighting guys who weight 240 or 250 pounds)

Who went life and death with a shopworn Barrera (what did you say of facing big names on the slide, btw)? That fight could have gone either way.

The wins (I consider their third meet a win for JMM) over Pac are very impressive, but he doesn't have as many title wins as Floyd and, of course, more losses. And if you're going to slate Floyd for not facing Tsuy, how about Marquez never facing Morales or a prime version of Barrera?

Mayweather's greater/better than Toney is every department.
I don't see any good counter arguments to that.

    Biased opinion.

Every department? Let's see, Toney was the better combination puncher, inside fighter, harder puncher and in my opinion fluid counter puncher.Enough said.

    I'm talking pound-for-pound.
Obviously Toney hits harder and would be harder to beat in absolute terms, but pound-for-pound Mayweather was better.

Mayweather, other than KO'ing Hatton, has shown no power north of 140.

I'd say Toney is better at countering than Floyd and fighting in the pocket.

Floyd countering from the ropes is probably as good as anyone I've seen. And doing it against Barkley is one thing, Cotto and Canelo another.

I get more enjoyment out of watching Toney do it, but can't deny Floyd's effectiveness.

The better 'FIGHTER' - Toney without a doubt.

    The better boxer - Mayweather

Toney, Better fighter no doubt. He actually fought and had an offense.

Legacy wise its close, and Floyd has a lot on his resume. But I like Toney because he fought from Middle to Heavy and was always willing to rumble.

He has a great deal of talent and to me is higher in both categories.

He did it against many others, Jirov and Prince Williams including. Look, you just know very little about Toney if you think that Mayweather was better with his back to the ropes.Toney was a master at that, Floyd was effective defensively there but not offensively (see fights against Maidana and Castillo).

Floyd is a better fighter overall and has a better resume with more A level opponents and HOF wins.

Toney is a better inside fighter and sometimes is the better aggressor (mostly due to mayweathers insistance on maintaining a safety first approach).

I don't swing it that way personally. Gaps between the lighter divisions are small than those up higher etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's super impressive Toney hung around the heavyweight division with good results for some time. There is however a fair bit of doubt to say the least PED wise.
