I concur. Unfortunately it's no one holding Deontay back from stardom but his own inability to market himself. When you let another big Black man in the same division (Anthony Joshua), that has never step foot in the ring of the country that you were born in (Anthony Joshua), have better recognition on the streets than you (Anthony Joshua) then you are many steps away from superstardom. Joshua has been champion for how many years now?

He has one of the best mandibles in the game, and incredible power.

He is one big fight away from superstardom, Tyson level perhaps?

All that is true except the second bits lol.
Tyson have IT, he is a star even before became a champ. Wilder wasted 5 years but hasn't captured public attention.
Joshua starting later but beats him cause he dares to fight Wlad. Now wilder needs Joshua to be mainstream.
Beating King Kong and Parker will not do it.

But Wilder has a statue of himself in Alabama!

PPV?! How much will they pay the fans to watch him fight another wino from the alley?

More like one punch away from being irrelevant.

If that step was a fight with Anthony Joshua to unify the WBA (Super), IBF and WBC Title then you'd be right, but there's no one else out there who could make him a "superstar". No one else in the division has the high profile or drawing power.

That's not even a possibility until he steps in that ring with Aj.. They are the only kryptonite for each other.

Can't wait till the Sunday following the dw/ortiz fight. We will have 90% of this forum eating endless crow.
