Why is Deontay Wilder not a mainstream heavyweight star like Mike Tyson was?

cuz I always thought the formula to be a mainstream star is to be 1) American 2) a heavyweight 3) get lots of knockouts.

    so what gives?

His best win is a UD against Bermane Stiverne.

He hasn't done enough. And will struggle when he steps up now as he has been in the game so long. 38 fights and best win is vs Stiverne.

He needs to fight Luis Ortiz before AJ to get some respect, but it won't happen.

Earnie Shavers wasn`t as big a star as Tyson became and he punched harder than Tyson, Shavers scored an iconic knockdown during his loss to Holmes who was still at his peak, he also rocked Ali badly but Tyson had what Liston and Foreman had he looked vicious he had a charisma that made him standout, I don`t think Wilder would make a very exciting interview, plus Wilder got some offensive tricks but he`s nowhere near as talented as Tyson! Mike holds the world record for the most 1st round KO`s, opponents were scared to get in the ring with him and Liston, Paterson looked like a deer in the headlights when he was blown away by Liston in a round twice. Maybe if Wilder beats Joshua his profile will improve the same can be said fo AJ he doesn`t have opposition to make him a star. After Tyson beat Spinks he became a global superstar. After Foreman knocked Frazier out it set up the huge rumble in the jungle knocking out Norton in 2 helped also, an invincible aura began to develop, people thought Foreman, Liston and Tyson were monsters this guy just hasn`t got that for a number of reasons.

He hasn't fought anyone of name. The most well-known opponents he has faced are Harrison and Nichols. Dead ****ing serious.

Tyson's team was very good at promoting him to the press and the public from day one. Wilder is completely unknown in the US.

Because even the uneducated public can see that Deontay just isn't very good. He struggles with C level fighters. He is the epitome of hype over substance.

Who's Tyson best win prior to being bodied by Douglas, was it stinks or retired Holmes. 2 fighters dw would talk destroyed too.

Also dw would had made easy work of Douglas.
Would we ever come close to losing if he fought tyson career resume, or would dw more than very likely be 60 something and zero

You just described Tyson to the tee.
Struggled with many C class fighters and lost to every B level fighter he fought. Got destroyed by the 2 A level fighters going zero and 3

    Tysons exact description,
He is the epitome of hype over substance.[/QUOTE]

Boxing isn't as big in America as it used to be plus Tyson had a personality that was just different. a proper one of a kind and I'm not talking about boxing ability

Once dw ko's ortiz he will have eclipsed tysons career. They are close now in terms of who has the better WINS on their resumes.

H2h would ONLY be 50/50 fight if dw proves to have a weak chin, as many clowns on here portray. With the chin dw has shown so far, I've never seen him truly hurt, he mopes the floor with miny tiny mental midget tyson 7/10x
