He's good he'll be a contender top 10 or top 15. But won't be a threat to the very best. European champion and world title challenger is my prediction. Better than Audley and Price , but not as good as Fury or Joshua. He only has a short window for paydays he'll have to be moved quick.
I've seen him display a good chin before. But I've also seen him KO'd by some unknown Morrocan in the 1st round ( video isn't on youtube). And KO'd here in 30 seconds by Sergey Kuzmin. So his chin might be an issue. This content is protected
If he starts as well as Price he'll have to be good. Price went through fringe men very easily and inspired fear until the Thompson fights.
I say have him do lewison then Leroy guy for the belt maybe defend it once then put him in with chisora to see how good he really is.
Joyce has a couple of things going against him. He started boxing late so some of his skills aren't great, particularly in terms of his defence. He is also pretty old for someone just turning pro. Chances are he is moved up too quickly and ends up losing on the way up the ranks. His chin is also questionable. Having said that, so was Joshua's when he was turning pro but his chin turned out to be good (but nothing more), so Joyce's could turn out to be the same. However, he is very large, very strong, hits hard and has a high work-rate and lots of stamina, which is an unusual combination of attributes to have. Also, considering the sort of people that can win a belt these days as well as the fact that the current division isn't very strong, he could definitely win a belt at his peak. Because of these question marks, there is a chance he won't do much beyond British level, or instead he could end up winning a belt. Realistically, I can see him being a top contender in the division with the chance of winning a belt.
If Charles Martin can be a belt holder then so can Joe Joyce, although i think he will be protected for a long time once he gets a belt, much like Wilder.
Martin only won a belt because the IBF are diks and the guy who was the actual mandatory's knee blew out. That kind of luck will take a long time to seen again by anyone.
Been working on his defence in the gym with his Cuban trainer Ismael Salas. The Cuban has trained a lot of excellent fighters. '60-year-old Salas has lead the corner of no less than 19 World Champions. His stable has included some of the greatest skilled fighters ever in both amateur and professional boxing. Within the amateur's he lead the corner for a number of Olympic stars including two-weight World Champion and Olympic Champion, Joel Casamayor Johnson, as well as three-time Olympic and six-time World Champion Felix Savon, whose success has unquestionably cemented him as a legend in the amateur ranks. Salas' professional success includes; WBA super-bantamweight World Champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, former unified featherweight World Champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, former four-weight World Champion Nonito Donaire, former two-weight World Champion Jessie Vargas and super-welterweight World Champion Erislandy Lara to name just a few. And he is the current coach of Ring Magazine and unified lightweight World Champion Jorge Linares, who has based himself in London for the foreseeable future.
To be fair to him a lot of the top SHWs of recent years have been KO'd or stopped in the amateurs too, some multiple times All these guys have been stopped. There's more I'm forgetting as well. Yoka Nistor Vikhrist Dychko Joshua Sirenko Frazer Clarke (not sure if this one was a legit stoppage or on an injury) Eric Pfeiffer Yoandris Toirac Leinier Perot Jose Larduet
Don't know if he's the prospect that Dubois or Okoile* are. Third best prospect in your weight class in your division, not good. *I know Okoile is a CRSRWT, but not for long.
Upper top 10 ..maybe 7/8 HW unless he tightens up defense.Hes also the slowest top fighter out there now. Heavy handed and decent skills but could be out boxed and against a true puncher will probably lose. Dont need to see him turn pro ,he probably beats most outside the top ten right now,( depending on who your top ten are. lol)
