Why is Deontay Wilder not a mainstream heavyweight star like Mike Tyson was?

Even if Wilder had a team promoting his image and career like Tyson`s he probably wouldn`t be as known, Tyson had that x-factor that Wilder doesn`t.

This. People underestimate how important charisma is. The early knockouts by Tyson were great, but a lot of times even in his post prison years his buildups were more entertaining than the fights themselves. I and most people knew that Tyson was too far gone to have a chance against Lennox, but Tyson's pre fight hype was so over the top and entertaining that he almost made you believe he could do what he saying. Neither Wilder or any active fighters can get people that hyped. It also doesn't help that charisma isn't something that can be taught.

Floyd can sell PPV's, but he needed another star to really hit big numbers. Tyson sold over 1.5 million PPV's with Peter McNeeley of all people.

Because he was put over badly and nearly TKOd by Butterbean's cousin.

And Nichols went on to have more fame and celebrity than Wilder too.

You don't know much about boxing if you think your statement is accurate. Probably explains why most of your posts are in the general section.

Is there any Haymon fighter that's mainstream?
    Wilder's advisor is garbage.

Mike won a title, then proceeded to defend every few months against every other beltholder until he unified, then he defended against the number 1 in the world consistantly until he was dethroned.. Even in his comeback from jail, Mike faced only 1 clown, then beat ranked fighters until he regained another portion of the title.. Wilder won his title, then managed to fight the most obscure of challengers in history.. Molina, Duhaupas, Szpilka, (was scheduled to fight a polish guy I never even saw) Andrejze Waryck, but faced Arreola on a weeks notice, then faced Gerald Washington.. This list is the equivolent to Tyson beating Berbick and defending against a Larry Alexander, James Broad, Levi Billups and Jeff Simms.. guys who incidentally were ranked slightly higher than the men, Wilder fought..

    That.... is why.

Weren't you one of those who praised Joshua to heaven after he beat Wlad? You have some nerves to diss Tyson's Win over Holmes which was a complete destruction unlike AJ\Wlad.

Wlad was in far better shape against AJ than Holmes was against Tyson plus he punched harder!

He was also older and had looked far worse in his last outing against Fury than Holmes did against Spinks.

Fury`s reach would have made a 35 year old Larry look the same and I don`t know if Spinks could deal with a heavyweight the size of Fury either, Fury is very difficult to beat.

Wilder looks like an embarrasing knockout defeat waiting to happen so the big players and promoters are not willing to spend alot of money marketing him when that embarrasing defeat could be in his very next fight.

Another way is to do it is to market yourself quick style, take on and knock out a big name opponant and shout off about coming for the man, Joshua. He has done the shouting off bit but hasnt done the 1st bit.
