That is why he went easy on Jacobs.

Canelo will not be afforded such leniency.

 

Golovkin badly hurt Jacobs at the end of round 10 and after he backed off he always knew if he looked good against Jacobs he would not get the fight

He took a risk and the risk worked out for him

 

Yeah GGG purposely looked bad and lost on a lot of people's cards. People bring up Ward's face after Kovalev/Ward 1, but never bring up GGG's after the Jacobs fight.

 

He was struggling till the 10th. So if he hurt him in the 10th badly, he would still get the fight against Canelo if he stopped Jacobs who was known to have a glass chin prior.

 

He carried Jacobs, it was obvious.

If Canelo had witnessed GGG savagely knocking out the no 2 ranked middleweight - who came in over 20lbs heavier, not to mention doping - he would have wanted nothing more to do with GGG.

At least not for another several years until he was satisfied that there were clear signs of considerable deterioration.

 

I agree.

Although I think the result was a combination of Jacobs being much improved from previous fights, Jacobs being huge, Jacobs being very well prepared - he had excellent sparring in the run up which showed he meant business - Golovkin not being the invincible monster some made him out to be, Golovkin underestimating Jacobs and Golovkin having slipped a little physically.

 

I wont say he took it easy on Jacobs but he didn't seem intent on the KO

 

No.. Jacobs didn't win because it would have scuppered the big money Canelo / GGG fight.

Jacobs would have got that decision if GB really wanted to avoid Golovkin. The decision would have been justified and would have kept GGG busy with a rematch , stalling the fight even further.

Golovkin didn't knock Jacobs out because he wasn't good enough . Its as simple as that.

 

Jacobs weight 174lbs in the ring. Same as GGG ..Fact.

 

HBO revealed he was weighing 180lbs at the time of the fight.

There is conflcting information as Jacobs and his team where very shady when revealing his true weight.

Their whole entire camp was shady but that isn't surprising when Conte is on board.
