If it were anyone else, they'd be lauded for dominating a bigger man with the jab all night, landing the better shots, scoring a KD, and keeping a monster puncher on the defensive to the point he was reluctant to throw.

Danny survived, and had some success for sure, but the only outcome Jacobs earned was a moral victory and real life loss. GGG was "exposed" as being a human boxer. Unfortunately for Jacobs, who I'm also a fan of, overcoming the myth doesn't mean Danny overcame the man. He didn't take enough chances countering the jab to do so. Given that GGG also landed more eye-catching shots and scored the knockdown, there's not a whole lot left.

Few things look worse to a judge than a larger man being backed up and controlled by the jab of a smaller fighter. Danny knows it. But trying to counter it more represented a gamble he wasn't willing to take.

The knockdown was due to Jacobs being off balance. If Bumlovkin had Jacobs holding on for dear life, why wasn't he able to put him down or get the KO in the later rounds?
