Is golovkin saying if he had knocked Jacob's out he wouldn't of got this fight or is he saying he purposely didn't knock Jacob's out so he could get the fight?

I struggle to believe any boxer would hold back in world title fight in the hopes of tempting somebody else to sign for a fight. But I was confused after that Jacob's fight, I can understand him having problems with Jacob's stature and power but there were aspects to his game that were a long way off what I usually see from GGG, mainly his footwork, that doesn't disappear overnight when you bit 35 and as well as Jacob's was doing it shouldn't turn golovkin into a flat footed plodder. In some aspects that was the worst GGG I've ever seen I thought he must of been ill or something
