Very frustrating performance by Benavidez, where was the urgency? He let Gavril outwork him for longs spells and he didn't let his hands go. He's at his best when he's walking you down, stepping to the side and letting combinations go, like how he fought in the 11th. The same thing happened against Douglin. I think he's starting to believe his own hype. Credit to Gavril he's well-schooled, tough and he fought a great fight. Part of me feels like Benavidez deserved to lose because of the lackadaisical attitude he displayed for much of the fight.

See, TMT got one ridiculously lopsided score.

But the Benavidez scores were crazy too.

Bad cards. I can't see how you can have it more than 2 either way.

The judges that had it 116-111 and 117-111 for Benevidez are just as ****ed in the head lol.

I saw a little too much Jose Benavidez in there tonight. He needs to find a new trainer other than his dad..

Nothing should be taken away from Gavril though, Gavril did a fine job and deserves a ton of props for that performance, and the chin he showed tonight.

HOW? HOW CAN TWO JUDGES HAVE IT 116-111 but not for the same fighter???????
And what is worse is that the damn athletic commission will not give a single crap about it.

Benavidez may only be 20... But he needs to rapidly improve. His stock definitely has gone down a bit after tonight. Gavril was brought in as a sacrificial lamb, the script did not go as planned. As said earlier..... Would suggest to Benavidez to vacate the belt and go down a level or so. He's not ready for the big stage.

It was a good learning fight Benavidez but he clearly isn't ready for the top yet.
