Do people still think that Benavidez walks through all the SMW?

I just finished watching the Gavril fight, and the only thing I can say based off this performance is "I told you so". A lot of you guys saw the Medina fight and overrated the hell out of him. Medina was tailor made for him and I brought that up before the fight and predicted that people would overrate the performance. Now the kid is still young has plenty of room to grow, but a lot of us who watched the Douglin fight knew how big of a weight bully Benavidez is. People laughed at me for picking Smith over Benavidez like it wouldn't even be a competitive fight. I'd pick Degale and Groves to beat him too at the moment. I have Benavidez beating both Dirrell brothers though. Do you guys still rate Benavidez as the clear best at 168?

No, he's not as good as I thought he was. I think you've assessed his current level well, I do think he can improve and grow into a big star though.

Plant/Benavidez is a good fight too. I wouldn't mind seeing this fight next since Plant is calling him out.

I think he'll eventually have to go up to 175. I want to see Benavidez fight a Chilemba type guy at 175, then I'll truly be able to rate his abilities. Right now like many have said before the Medina fight, his weight bullying is similar to Chavez Jr at 160.

He's got more work to do than I'd thought, but fights like last night are great for his development. He's got to be challenged.

Im thinking he'd have a much harder time vs Plant than I did heading in to it.

I don't know about ''walks through'' all the SMWs but I still think he's a beast and if he adjusts his attitude and fights to his strengths and does what he does best at he's a real handful for anyone at the weight. Gavril is a tough guy and he fought really well last night, but Benavidez would've got him out of their had he fought with more urgency and spent more time doing what he did in the later rounds, particularly the 11th. Benavidez was far too lackadaisical last night and he allowed Gavril to outwork him for long spells.

And I don't see anything special in Caleb Plant at all. He has good skills but he doesn't impress me much.

I don't think he does but at only 20 he has lots of room for improvement.

Same here, with the exception of Smith who I think is overrated as well.

I thought the early decision would favor Han and have provided Love with an upset loss. The cut was pretty crazy as well.

A lot including myself said he is future of the division and I stand by that, he's only 20 and already champion. I find it funny that you have a pop at David for being a weight bully yet sing the praises of Callum smith.

He's got a ways to go but he's talented and at 20yrs old has time to improve.

    Regarding his weight

I have a few of his fights but this is the only one of his I've seen where he's fight night weight was listed

He's definitely a big framed SMW and I don't think it will be too long before he moves up to 175. His opponent in that fight is at best a blown up MW and he's got to be the smallest guy he's fought by a big margin.

Youngest ever SMW champion. That's what Serge is talking about :bandit:
