Damn man, long ass ****in' reply. Byrd isn't regarded as being a good inside fighter and Ike didn't do great inside work on Tua. They just fought in close quarters because Ike couldn't keep Tua off of him. You are clearly blinded by your hatred of Wlad so you are going on a nonsensical tangent saying that Povetkin doesn't do anything better than a 20 fight novice with no good wins. Povetkin was better at everything, watch the fights. Ike was getting worked over by Tua in the late rounds. Tua was landing the bigger, harder shots. Ike was trying to slap his way to a decision. Who was up on the scorecards when Ike knocked out Byrd? That's what I thought... I haven't argued once that Byrd was prime against Povetkin. S-T-R-A-W-M-... Povetkin beat Byrd. You can't take credit from a guy for winning a fight. Lol "Ike outboxes Povetkin" The same Ike who never outboxed anyone in a single professional fight. Ike couldn't even outbox David Tua...
You've been disproved. http://ghosttown-boxing.2299399.n4.nabble.com/David-Tua-Vs-Ike-Ibeabuchi-Your-Scorecard-td4366937.html
What was he better at? I listed out a number of area's where Ike was superior. What did Povetkin do that was better? Another lie. All you can do is lie . Ike was up on the scorecards.. Byrd didn't win a single round after the first. He was handily out boxed by Ike at a time when he out boxed and stopped one Klitschko and took the other Klitschko the 12 round distance. The Bird was never in a moments danger vs Vitali but he was in deep waters and only surviving from round 2 on against Ike. Ike out maneuvered him with superior footwork , trapped him and knocked him senseless. Vitali couldn't even land a clean shot on the Bird. Ike battered and schooled the Bird in one showing and made Vitali's effort look laughable in comparison. Thats outboxing somebody. Povetkin had trouble out boxing Eddie Chambers , a guy Ike would knock dead before 8 rounds. Ike beats Povetkin but you're entitled to your wrong opinion.
Don't underestimate Ike. Having only 20 fights, he has scored 2 very good wins over completely different top-HWs, young, prime and undefeated. I scored Ike vs Tua 116-112 for Ike. I can't see how it can be scored in Tua's favour And no one stopped Byrd in 5 rounds, even when he was completely shot. Povetkin is pretty good, too. He has scored many good wins over top-opponents. Both are skilled HWs. Ike is naturally bigger (I mean bigger frame) and physically stronger guy, a true freak of nature. That could make the difference in the fight. Surely, I don't take Sasha from Huck fight which was his worst, IMO. That Povetkin would've been stopped by Ike without a doubt. It would be brutal and entertaining fight in which I'll pick Ike, either by late stoppage or decision (which would be close).
Better jab, better inside work, better counterpunching ability, better boxing ability, superior timing, faster and smarter. Just generally a much better fighter. http://boxrec.com/media/index.php?title=Fight:13179 "The end came quickly for Byrd, who won three of the first four rounds." You're the liar here... Byrd was well behind on the cards when Vitali QUIT against him. He had about as much to do with that shoulder injury as he did with the moon landings. Byrd went down twice against Wlad. Ike's win over Byrd is dubious at best. At the time of the stoppage Byrd is still on his feet slipping punches and very aware of what is going on. He could have won that fight if they gave him the minute of rest between the rds. Your complete misrepresentation of the fight is laughable. There isn't any evidence that supports any of your claims. Povetkin is tough like Tua but much better technically. He'd probably march forward and eventually break Ike down but not enough to stop Ike, who was basically indestructible.
It's a nice interesting match. Alexander is very good at keeping his guard in place until he is in range to fire his combos. He controls when he wants to fight and covers up when he doesn't. Smart and tactical. Ibeabuchi had large frame was aggressive and had incredible stamina for man his size, although he did start to look winded shortly before he bombed Byrd. Both men are durable with great chins. Povetkins has been tested by better competition because he has had a longer quality career. However after seeing what Ike took against the murderous power of Tua I'm not sure any heavy would stop him. I see Povetkin picking his spots attacking and then covering up. Ike was open and there to be hit. I see Ike retaliation by sheer volume of punches like he fought Tua and Byrd. It's a very interesting match up. Like I said in a previous post I needed to see more of Ike. Povetkin is a better puncher than Byrd and a better boxer than Tua. So he brings formidable qualities to the table in this matchup. Good fight
