Always felt Choco was OVERRATED

The guy who beat him is a monster himself.

 

Physical and size limitations killed Roman. His pressure and defense was elite in the lower classes.

 

Roman Gonzalez is an all time great. His tough career where he has fought the best has caught up on him. Moving up out of his natural weight was only going to take him so far, as it would any fighter.

 

dominates his division for years, beats estrada and cuadras, loses to a monster of a puncher and becomes overrated overnight. okay

 

I agree somewhat he was never p4p #1 to me. I made a thread saying donaire at 112 would have tooled him and I was laughed off the forum. Donaire would have countered the hell out of him and stopped him.

 

How would Choco's success destroy Mayweather's legacy? Would it also destroy the other two legacies?

Hbo was promoting him as the fighter that would break floyds record of 49-0 since Roman was like 2 fights away before losing to this most recent guy.

And not that I care about floyds legacy either way but I don't like when anyone uses someone else's name for your fame.

Just because you have seen the back end of his career
I don't judge him the previous 40 odd fights and he is one of the best if not the best of the modern era.

Little guys don't age well and his trainer died before the previous fight. That's had a huge effect on him and super fly was a weight too far imo even when he won a world title.

Give credit ffs he fought everybody!

 

Roman Gonzalez is a great fighter and that is undebatable.

It was actually sad to see the way it finished, Gonzales worked all his life to get the position, he was going up the weight classes having really strong opponents and all those years of work were ruined by a good fighter (not great), who just tuned out to be stylistically a nightmare to Gonzalez.

 

chocolatito is a great fighter, isnt the most well known fighter today, but nevertheless great, just turned out rungvisai is his bogey fighter in terms of styles i believe. kind of crazy tho how his record was 46-0 just over half a year ago and now 46-2.

 

49-0 is not a record. Hell, Ricardo Lopez who fought at straw and light fly like Gonzalez retired at 51 and 0.
